Isn't It Ironic

Ironic indeed. Nice idea, but the photo seems a bit too "snapshotty". Maybe if you'd used a more dynamic angle, or desaturated the colours and underexposed for a bit of a grungy look, it might have conveyed your message better.

Not sure the idea/theme gets communicated as powerfully as it could in this shot. Interesting idea though.

This was a great concept for the challenge, but I think the 10 needs to be emphasised by putting the focus on the candles, and leaving the girl's face blurred.
Maybe a lower angle too, to give more prominence to the "10" candles.
And maybe the lighting could have been a bit stronger - like getting the whole cake lit, rather than just having a light off to one side.

Although you marked my comment as helpful, it really wasn't. I apologise - it was late at night when I voted and my internet connection was acting up, so I just wasn't in the mood for typing out decent comments...

So here goes: I really like this picture. The subject is in sharp focus, and neatly separated from the blurred background - so good DOF.
I also like the way the background forms bands of colours.
The brightly coloured subject over those bands of colour really sticks out well.
There is also a great sense of movement in the shot, and the ball suspended in mid-air creates a great sense of anticipation.

The only thing I'd criticise in the context of the challenge was that it doesn't really scream the concept "10" out to me. Sure, he has a 10 on his jersey, but there's not much emphasis on that. It isn't central to the image.

Still, great photo.
However, I re-iterate my question... Who is he? That's a Brazil kit, but that ain't no Brazilian...

I think this was one of the best of the challenge. Wish I'd had the time to get around to voting all of them - you'd have gotten a high vote from me.
Somebody else used this idea too, but yours was perfectly executed. Well done.
