don't think too hard, Tylerby filmer81Comment: I really like the lighting/contrast and tones of this image, along with the pose. The only detraction for me is the Pepsi box and can in the background, which keep pulling my eye away from the subject. |

Beholdby CutterComment: Processing and treatment make this almost surreal. Love the eyes, and the facial expression plus makeup really suit the processing. |

Helenby MatthewComment: Nicely composed and captured. I like how the cotton blossoms (?) mimic the subject's eyes. The b&w treatment could be stronger, it's a bit too green tinted for my liking and lacks the dynamic range I think this image could offer, but well done nonetheless. |

Windowby sumskater41Comment: I like the grainy, high contrast feel. Combined with the buildings and clothes, this has the look of something from the 60s or 70s ... and the expression fits the mood of those times. |

Portrait of a baby birdby gunjanpandeyComment: Wow. Fantastic light and treatment. Wasn't sure what I was looking until reading the title and inpsecting the image further. Not sure about how strongly this applies to a more literal definition of portraiture ... but a solid image nonetheless. |

Teen Attitudeby TlemetryComment: The expression captured here really conveys a sense of angst and attitude, and it's nicely processed (love the side light). Only thing that keeps it from being stronger, IMO, is the amount of negative space to the right; cropping 2/3 of that would eliminate a mostly centered comp and strenghthen the facial expression/features. |

eightby bucketComment: I really like the composition and b&w treatment, as well as the smooth skin tones. Unfortunately, even on an overly bright monitor such as my POS Dell laptop screen, it's just a tad too dark. The shadows on the right work with the composition, though could show a bit more detail, but it's the child's right eye that kills it ... not enough depth or detail unfortunately. Otherwise, well done. |

Sleeping Beautyby sallyjo1Comment: Based on the title we can assume this lovely little girl is sleeping, but because of the orientation it appears (without help from the title) she's sitting up reading, particularly given the position of her arms. As such, it detracts from the photo as you'd expect from this "pose" for her eyes -- open wide -- to be the focal point. |
