Love the warm lighting here that compliments the scene of this kitchen of a bygone era! The warm yellow/orange light in the hearth area invokes the imagery of a fire going as the pot hangs over the log ready for a meal to be made.

Wonderful still life arrangement showcasing the tools and ingredients needed to make and bake cookies! Love the addition of the star shaped cookie cutter for it tells the viewer what is being made and it is an interesting shape to add to the mix in this still life. You have fantastic lighting and great details in this photo!

I see the beginnings of a delicious peach pie in the making! I really like the composition and capture of this baker rolling out dough for the pie crust. Off to the left are three tasty peaches at the ready for this recipe. Lighting and angle are also great!

Fantastic light, composition, and action showing a baker at work! Love the captured action of the flour falling from the sifter down to the ball of dough that will become a loaf a bread once it is baked.

Love this colorful and cheerful arrangement of kitchen items. The yellow pitcher goes well with the springtime colors and flowers of the dishcloth. The stacked geese/duck bowls adds a touch of playfulness but also adds to the feel that this is a country kitchen. Nice work!

Those textures and shapes that weave and undulate in the soil/sand are mesmerizing to look at. B&W was a good choice to showcase those patterns in the ground. As a good shot it needs just a little more...'something' to push it into the spectacular category. One thing that I see that can help boast a bit more visual interest is to tilt and crop the composition. There is a 'main' path of rivulets that if you tilt it to the left it could run at a diagonal across the frame. Those dark rivulets ad the bottom are just going straight up but if you tilt it say 35 degrees to the left then some of those nice dark rivulets will appear to pour forth from the bottom right corner. The top area where there it is lighter would also tilt and either be in or pointed towards the top left corner. With that tilt and crop those rivulets then travel from dark to light at a diagonal across the frame.

Great lighting, details and tones in this photo! Love the pose of the musician as he plays the saxophone. The curves of the instrument undulatea -it moves in a serpentine motion. The air travels the twisting path as the notes emerge not as a hiss but the smooth sounds of some soul jazz. Not sure of the backdrop as that it makes the imagery a little busy with all the lines. The other small critique I have is that a closer crop would have the musician and that smooth music literally filling the frame - a tight crop just above the waist and just a touch more off the top of the frame. That aside this is a great portrait!

I really like how the twisting bamboo sprouts from the bottom left corner to stretch diagonally across the frame. My only critique is that the composition could be even stronger if the bamboo was evenly lit all across its surface. Another light positioned behind and below it would illuminate the back portions that fall a bit into shadow.

The letter S is drawn in honey showing off sweet serpentine curves that these ants cannot resist. Lighting and details in this macro shot are fantastic!

The square crop keeps the focus tightly on the coiled ring resting on the keyboard. I really like how you cleverly composed the bottom curve of the ring to nestle the letter S within it's curve!
