Bubble Fun

Bubble Fun

This is a nice candid photo of a child taking a bubble bath. Technically: Things are in nice sharp focus but the composition could have been more tightly framed around just the child's head his bubble crown. The other critique is that you title this Bubble Fun but this poor child looks as if he is having anything but.... His lips are tightly pursed and he seems unhappy. A smile upon his face woud have made this shot more appealing and play into the title better. Instead of fun that we stereotypically associate with a bubble bath I am left wondering what he is so unhappy about.

The circumstances are that this poor model must have had to pose for a quite a long time to get this shot to appear like it is here. Not an easy feat since I can see that she is crouching there in a corner. Her hands are perfectly positioned to make it appear as if she is pressing on the bubble. And she seems to be looking right at the straw that created this bubble. I would love to learn how you accomplished this shot - at first glance I thought it can't be a straight photo but I see that this has been validated. Whew, this must have taken alot of positioning, planning, and timing....Technically everything is perfect. My only two nits about the shot is the colors - the purplish-blues are fine and add to the mood of "being blue or caught in a prision" but there is little too much of an orange cast on the person's hand and arm that is holding the bubble that clashes with those purple and blue hues. A warm hue can mix with a cool hue effectively but in this shot it just pop out to much that they are competing with one another instead of complementing. The other critique is that I would have shown the full hand and less of the arm - as that it is the hand that holds this woman's "prision" it should be more in the shot.

Nonetheless, great job.

A good capture of some bubbles in this shot, but the addition of too much sky or rather so much clouds in the sky make this scene rather too busy that the attention to the bubbles is lost within the clouds. Keeping the scene simple as in a mostly blue or all blue sky with the bubbles being dominent in the scene (and by that I mean that the frame is 50% or above full of the bubbles) would help in keeping our attention focused on the main subject of the shot.

A very nice shot, but the black and white makes the photo appear flat. Color would have been a better choice with this photo. I would have loved to have seen the bright yellow color of the duck resting in the sparkling white bubbles The color would help to capture and hold the viewer's attention.

A candid street shot showing action and people in an everyday scene - but what gets lost is the bubbles. There is so much present in this photograph for the eye to look at and observe that the bubbles get dwarfed and are hardly noticed. Perhaps if you had chosen the composition to show 2 to 3 elements that domiinate the scene those bubbles might not be so lost in the shot. Just as an example: Centering the composition on the two gentlemen intent on their conversation. Shown from the waist up the viewer would see their expressions as they are speaking to one another and there floating behind or around the man in the white shirt is a ton of bubbles ......

Stock Market Bubble?

A very clever play on the word bubble and quite different from many other entries I've seen. Technically perfect but in compositional interest it lacks something that will retain the viewer's attention. Hmmm, perhaps showing a little more "action" with this shot would have improved the visual impact. A suggestion: maybe showing the stereotypical stock market graph which show rises and falls i.e. like a red arrow showing stocks have taken a plunge appearing alongside the above numbers and bubble in the above shot.

Very nicely done - image is sharp as a tack. Love that you captured some bubbles escaping off of the flower. However I think that the composition could have been a bit more stronger in impact. I wonder how much of the flower would have been covered in bubbles if you took a photo looking straight on at the face of the flower instead of the undercarriage. I might have looked more stunning as a "floral sun" with bubbles adorning it's surface - but it also may not have been possible since we are looking at a side view that shows the bubbles from a side profile which makes them that much more visible.....Hmmm, I still do think that the composition needed more impact and maybe the more simple solution was to have included the flower as a whole within the camera frame.

The idea is good but I feel the framing of the composition could have been strengthen if you waited for the dog to look directly at you. That why we see the wet dog being given a bath that he doesn't want as he looks at us imploringly (if you are lucky to capture an expression like that, it is not always easy) to "save him". By having the dog look at the viewer it brings us into the moment such that we feel that we are there looking back at the poor dog having a bath.

A simple and clean abstract approach. We see bubbles within the bubbles and it gives the eye something extra to look at.

The red color is bold and vibrant and makes this photo really pop and capture the eye's attention. I like the play of bubbles as they coat the surface of the rasberries. Clean and simple and appealing to the eye. Still, perhaps the composition would be stronger if you zoomed in for a closer look at the rasberries giving the viewer more texture to look at and maybe getting rid of the reflection on the side of the martini glass.
