MinimalDay7EditedWeb2.jpgby cogeroxComment: Very nice technique here; I liked this original image a lot, and though the colors were a bit muted, it still had a really nice range of tones and textures (for example, there was nice texture on the barn). This image really sparkles, though, with brighter tones throughout, and more contrast. Nicely done. |

DAY 9. unedited. watching the dog.by rozComment: I'm gonna comment on this one 'cause I think I like it better of the two; the second one is more artistic, but knowing as I do the apple stealing tendencies of the dog in question, this one tells more of a story of the dog. I think the colors on this are wonderful. I like the edited crop, I think, but the sky in this version doesn't really bug me. Nicely shot! |

MinimalDay3Editedby cogeroxComment: Wonderful processing; I love what you've done, and how the image has turned out. I think the lamb might be a bit bright considering the rest of the image, but it really doesn't detract from the whole. Thanks for the complete picture of your processing, it's really helpful and gives me enough detail so that I can try and play with similar techniques. |

IMG_DeerEdited.jpgby noranekoComment: Delightful editing of a strong starting image. I might have cropped in just a bit (left and right both evenly, I think), with the idea of giving more emphasis to the eyes (but maybe you tried that and it didn't work) |

Lily, no edit PAD.jpgby MelonMusketeerComment: I'm late in commenting on this one, but yeah, what they said. Brilliant shot. Shadows, light, color, reflections. It's a really amazing shot. I'm off to find the edit (which I think I saw later in the thread). |

Moth 1 No Edit PAD.jpgby MelonMusketeerComment: I like this as is; it's not too dark on my (laptop) monitor, and the details show through nicely. Good capture under "immediate" conditions. |

Day 10 - Dragonby xianartComment: Definitely pimped :) The colors in the original, while more faded, look much more natural to me, as does the lighting on the critter. I love the darkened background, though, and the light on the rocks in the processed version. Actually, they almost look like two different photos: the first one is in a book on beasties, the second on an art lover's wall. Am I making any sense at all? |

DAY 7. unedited. FACES .by rozComment: hey Roz - I actually feel like the foreground and background elements frame the subjects here (guy and dog); nice capture straight from the camera. |

MinimalDay1EditedWeb2.jpgby cogeroxComment: You've asked for "critical" comments, so I'm trying to be very nit-picky here. This is very, very well processed, especially considering the lighting in the original image. Such a difference in shades of color and light, with great effect on the whole. The lines still work well, and I pick them up more now, even moving through the trees (which are also nicely aligned), and which I didn't get from the original. I'm still left wondering if a more panoramic shot would work better, cropped longer and shorter (the foreground seems a little extensive for me, and if you cut it a bit, it might actually draw the image within the rule of thirds: bottom third planted rows; middle third trees and hills; top third sky -- but that might not work out). That's all I can think of, and it really is picky stuff! Nicely done. |
