The composition and focus is not doing anything to help draw attention to your subject "shoes". First rule of photography is usually to do something that draws attention to your subject, iyou generally use out of focus to draw attention away from objects that you don't want noticed, so this ends up being a photo of "steps".

Sweet kitten. It's very tough to see the shoes in this photo and basically it turned out to be a kitten photo instead of a "shoes" photo, maybe work on the lighting, or get a lighter pair of shoes would help.

This idea is cute, I would have liked to have seen the same scene with more colorful items, then I would have recognized the shoes as being a child's more easily . As it is, the dog could be huge and so could the shoes, the only thing that says they are a child's is the title.

I feel this photo is better than the other horse photos because your photo is drawing attention directly to the subject of the shoes whereas the others were just implied . You may not have known what the other photos were about if it hadn't been for their title.
