Greetings from the Critique Club!
This is a different take on the challenge, which is interesting and certainly suits it. I think it might've served you better and emphasized the shoe and hoof, had it been possibly a tighter shot of the actual horse shoe itself. As it is, it has a bit more of a snapshot sense to it and your eye follows around without a particular place to focus on. The light and shadow are a bit distracting from the subject that you were going for. I might've had the horse's hoof directly in front of me with the lens pointing down onto it with a stream of light directly on it to possibly get some shine off of the metal. It would still be apparent that it is a horse but the hind quarters of the animal itself are not necessary for the shot. The gloved hand could be an integral part as well, without it covering up the majority of the shoe. I hope you find these suggestions helpful. Best of luck in the future. From looking at your other photos, you certainly have the eye and the imagination to create some terrific shots!! Judy |

I feel this photo is better than the other horse photos because your photo is drawing attention directly to the subject of the shoes whereas the others were just implied . You may not have known what the other photos were about if it hadn't been for their title. |

Now that's an ideal subject.
If only you had shot a close up with the arms and the hoof - it ............
Sorry - I'm rambling again, will look very closely to see where this image comes in the end. |

For some reason, I wanted to call this "Rumps" :) This looks like a really professional magazine story illustration, not out of place in National Geographic. Shooting in motled light is hard to do, usually end up with too deep shadows or blown highlights. This has neither and is happily an 8 |
