You try and get a German short haired pointer puppy to sit long enough to take this photo! Actually Sofia was rather subdued and other than a glance at every noise she did fine. I cropped, converted to B/W, sharpened, adjusted lervels and brightness contrast and resized and saved for web.

First Impression of this photo is this is a cute pet portrait. Composition wise i think the crop is a bit too tight across the back as you have cut the dogs tail off. I like that the dogs eyes are looking up at me. But the dog seems to be competing with the boots for attention.

Your choice of background was a good for the neutral color but i think a more canvas type of material would have been a better choice for this type of shot because the material is stiffer and less likely for the dog to move easily, even on a truck bed. also less likely for the edge of your BG to slide down into your photo like it did here in the upper right of the photo. The B&W for this was an excellent choice. lighting is good to me. looks like you might have made a "light tent" over the truck. Excellent job here.the slightly blown highlights might be from the contrast/brightness processing. great focus on the boots but a bigger DOF would have made both the boots and the dogs eyes in perfect focus. only two other nit picks for this is make sure your subjects face(sleep below the dogs left eye) and paws(dirty paw print on bottom right of photo) are clean as these can be a distraction too.

If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via the PM system. thanks~~Cher~~:o)

Such a soleful expression. He looks more like he's been punished than guarding. Not crazy about the background .

The dog is dominating this picture, and relegates the boots to the back-seat. Makes more a cute pet pic than an image about shoes. I know I'm probably asking the impossible here, considering the subject, but maybe placing him either behind or in front of the boots and using a short focal range focusing on the boots would suit the theme more strongly.

think "waiting for owner's return" would have been a better title with that look on your pup's face, love the pup, btw LOL good shot

Cute picture, and though I've already seen some photos with cats or dogs or stuffed animals in them this is one of the better ones I've seen so far. The composition is pretty good. Nicely done.

This is a really nice shot, perhaps a slight improvement might have been a different backdrop (porch, pavement).
