The Face of Experienceby Mr_PantsComment: This is a good workman portrait. I like the toned down color. On my LCD it looks too sharp but on tube analogue sharpness is very near perfect - there is no answer. |

Standing Byby kleskiComment: An overall soft water color like quality is rather attractive. I think a good study of the fireman. |

Vby RetroesqueComment: This kind of picture makes an impression on me. I like this idea of the hard/soft composition - iron and shadow.
Finding relationships in this type of scene is often rewarding, as it requires the photographer to take time to explore & discover the optimum view of the play of light.
Another in the archive which I enjoy as much as yours, and is similar but in colour, is this version of your subject:

Tea roomby MelethiaComment: Really good. Pleasing tone to this soft (self?) portrait through sharp etched glass & 1x1 crop works well. Message edited by author 2008-03-24 10:37:22. |

Week 12 - Chimneyby hajekaComment: Time-o-day & mixed light add a interesting dim quality to this unique back lighted smoke stack. |

11.52 Ibiby MelethiaComment: good portrait, good edit, completely legible - front cheek shadow detail fades appropriately to black/dark & color version looks correct on either of my technologically different but supposedly calibrated unmatched monitors. |

Good Morning, Fine Spring Dayby SandyPComment: Beautiful detail, admirable close focus, I enjoy the prominent interaction of the angle planes between wings & foliage. I like both versions. The edit has a great crop & composition. Zooms like yours are so wonderfully capable. Even though this square format works so well, for myself and only a suggestion for consideration, I might choose it below what the full frame may be or also how a proportional to camera frame format crop might look. |
