Sunbathingby DreamerdollComment: I like this one better than your entry. lighting is great here without the white of the duck being blown out(which is hard to do for me and not underexpose) wonderful photo. I see this with an etheral glow on it but a wonderful photo without it(just a suggestion) great work here |

Lake Michiganby sbeaumontComment: *Critique Club Comment*
Compsition: wonderful composition and an unusual perspective but i think i would have liked to have seen more of the actual lake than the lake bank.
Lighting: natural light is always a wonderful choice is done at the right times like you did here so congrats..lighting is great.
Focus: I also love the deep DOF here as it give the feeling of really being there in person. I can almost feel the breeze and smell the lake so wonderfully done here!
color: while this is a great monochrome photo for your portfolio i do not feel this is an actual High Contrast photo. there looks to be alot of variations of grey rather than a strong black and white difference. maybe trying to adjust the curves and the contrast a bit more would have made this photo meet the challenge better IMHO.
This is truly a great photo! You should be very proud.

My first thought on this photo is" what a wonderful use of diagonal lines and a fresh perspective". both are done very well. Im not sure exactly what this is a photo of but looks to be a checkered finish line maybe for a race track of some sort. for me this would have been better if the white squares had be clean as they look to be a bit dirty(at least one looks this way). to make this photo even better i feel a light would have made more use of the contrasting squares. I dont know the processing software you use (I use PS7 so i will use that as my reference) but i would have played with my contrast settings and a slight curves adjustment. I also would have used my selective color to whiten the whites and blacken the blacks to give more depth to this. looks to me like you have your technicals down pat, just need some help with the processing. If you have any questions feel free to PM me and I will try to help you to the best of my abilties. Have a great day and i look forward to seeing more of your work. :o) ~~Cher~~ |

Boquet_toss001.jpgby GreenGiantComment: lovely shot and i like the added blur as it give this a more of a romantic feel but one tiny nit pick is the blur for the flowers seems to be going the wrong way. they look like they are just being thrown when they should be landing in one of the girls hands. great shots u have posted and i look forward to seeing more of your work. :o) Message edited by author 2005-09-16 14:06:53. |

Lean on Meby ChinabunComment: this is very nice!. i love flowers(both taking and viewing) and this one is done very well IMHO. only nit picks for this would be to take out that spot of green on the left of the flowers and they stem at the top. I love the overhead lighting as it adds greatly to the photo :o) |

Daisyby johnnyBirdComment: this is a nice B&W but a bit too much sharpening(notice the halos around the petals)done and the shadows are a bit harsh for such a delicate subject. a reflector( or use a piece of aluminum foil with the dull side as the reflector). if this is with a household lamp i reccomend using a sheet or two(depending on how strong the light is) of tissue paper between the light and your subject to sort of diffuse the harsh lighting. composistion is ok and DOF is great. hope i helped you(as that is my only intention) please take a moment to read my profile page *comments left* or pm me if you have any questions and i will try to help any way possiable. have a great night :o) |
