Go Aheadby StrikeslipComment: This is a rough color palette to work with - hard to get it just right without lots of clashing colors, Kudos on succeding here. The diamond is well focused and lit. The gold is very nicely rendered.
Mixed feelings about the text. Aalthough it is well composed, uses the negative space well, is a good choice of font, and seems to be a pretty good color choice; I might like it better if it were a tad smaller or a tad darker. |

Natural Jewelryby RissaComment: Lovely Lizard! Up, or On the Rocks. Beautiful composition. Nicely lit. The water and laurel leaves are inspired touches. So's the decision to crop the tail. I think it's a little subtle compared to a few in this competition, but it is really lovely. |

February by nico_blueComment: I love the lines, the form of this ring. And I love its color. Perfect lighting, DOF. The backgound definitely adds interest, espscially in the reflections.
The text adds weight and balance to the photo where it needs them, yet somehow it doesn't quite work for me. (Thinking out loud: While the serif font seems appropriate for a ring that appears to have a little age, I think its flowing lines suggest either sanserif or something a little cursive, possibly purple, and perhaps bunched up more on the left side. But I know nothing of these things.) |

Exotic Beauty in Gold & Pearlby CantiqueComment: It's a very organic piece of jewelry, so it is completely appropriate that it be juxtaposed with a natural object whose simplicity and geometric form suggests manmade objects. As much as I like the idea, the colors, the forms, I think that the allium or whatever the flower is creates a visually confusing background which makes seeing the beautiful form of this piece more difficult. |

MAMBAby aznymComment: The mamba is one of the earth's most deadly poisonous snakes; when it bites, that's it. So I am entertained by the visual allusion to a snake in this photo as well as the textual one. It's a nice capture and negative space is used very well. |

Diamonds are foreverby TrollManComment: There's a refreshing 'girl next door' look to the model. While most ad aproaches make you want it precisely because you cannot have it, this strikes me as taking a different approach. It strikes me as moral high ground - in a way. Appealing to our sense of beauty without tapping into those powerful 'deadly sin' emotions. Apologies for philosophizing, but I am interested in photography for more than what lies on the surface.
It's a beautiful shot. And it gets better and better with viewing. |
