I like the candid nature and the atmospheric lighting and grain. That said, would still prefer a touch more detail to his nearer eye. 7 (//www.dpchallenge.com/forum.php?action=read&FORUM_THREAD_ID=129433)

Nice warmth to the lighting and lovely reflections on the water. That blue bit on the left is a little odd - would prefer green (or blue) background throughout. Very strange. Quite funky! 7 (//www.dpchallenge.com/forum.php?action=read&FORUM_THREAD_ID=129433)

A lovely portrait with intimacy created by the close crop. Nice angle to her face within the frame and hair frames her face very nicely. Earring adds nice detail. 7 (//www.dpchallenge.com/forum.php?action=read&FORUM_THREAD_ID=129433)

I really like the unusual viewpoint here and the inclusion of the fairylit tree in what would be neg space works well too. This has a weird inverted feel. Very interesting. 7 (//www.dpchallenge.com/forum.php?action=read&FORUM_THREAD_ID=129433)

This is a well-taken portrait with lovely soft lighting, a good use of props, wonderful composition. The only thing that doesn't work for me is her expression - I can't tell what mood she's in and hence I don't connect with the portrait on an emotional level. Technically a beautiful portrait though. 7 (//www.dpchallenge.com/forum.php?action=read&FORUM_THREAD_ID=129433)

This is a sweet portrait and I like the close crop that creates an intimacy between subject and viewer. I'm not a fan of soft focus effect so that doesn't appeal to me. I'm also finding that her focus on the bubble that is so far to her side means it's hard for me to see much detail in her eyes, and I'd like to. I wonder if it would be a stronger impact for me if she were looking at a bubble that were higher up? 6 (//www.dpchallenge.com/forum.php?action=read&FORUM_THREAD_ID=129433)

Pretty landscape and nice use of light. To me it lacks something in terms of pulling me into it, perhaps needs a focal point. Peaceful though. 7 (//www.dpchallenge.com/forum.php?action=read&FORUM_THREAD_ID=129433)

A nice lowkey image with subtle lighting. I like the way the hair falls onto her face. I like your choice of cropping - taking off the top of her head brings us closer and creates a feeling of intimacy. I also like the non-centred composition. I'm not sure I like the way in which her hair merges into the background. 7 (

They say that successful portraits should have direct eye contact. Well, this one doesn't and I think it's still great! It's hard to know whether it would be improved even further by direct eye contact or whether that would change the mood too much. I really like the crispness of the foreground subject against the blurred background. I like the high contrast black and white. I like the strong vertical of his instrument and the way it's echoed by that metal girder to the right. I like the detail of the open instrument case. This image makes me want to be able to hear him and that means it's definitely communicated to me. 10

Beautiful use of slow shutter speed to create a ghost effect with the motion of the water. Great colour and light. Strong composition. The rock in the foreground really helps anchor that. 8
