When I clicked on this photo, I instantly felt emotion from it. I think it's a good example of how a picture can connect with someone and mean different things to different people. In this case, I think it was the mood and feeling you captured, in context with my memories of my own father.... Anyways, use of b&w for dramatic effect, sillouhette use, and the interplay of light and shadows, makes this very interesting. I like the way the lighting becomes suggestive against the man's face and emphasizes the title. Hope it does well, I'm voting the only 9 i've given in this challenge

I really like the idea, DOF, and contrasts. The b&w gives a very dramatic and somber feel to the photo. One of the better ones I've seen thus far.... 8

Good composition and DOF. On my monitor, the colors seem a little washed out from the bright sun. Polarizer or ND filter to help maybe?

Very pretty shot. The detail and DOF is great. I'm not a fan of the darkened outer area (Pshop burn tool?) as it seems to detract from some of the detail and colors.

I love the composition and subject here. The contrast in shapes and colors is nice. One thing I found distracting though is the appearance of grainyness and artifacts in the sky.

The Far Tree

I like your idea and the effectiveness of the DOF here. I think the framing of the shot where the tree trunk dominates the composition is a little overwhelming. IMHO the shot would have been equally effective even if not so much trunk was visible.

Great shot. The tree line in the distance really acts as an intermediary between the field and sky. DOF and contrast is excellent.... 8

Great composition and framing. I like the way the eye is drawn to the main subject here. Colors seem a little un-saturated and lifeless though on my monitor. Maybe some white balance and levels adjustment to help?

Perfect use of deep DOF in this shot. I like the detail and composition here. The land seems a little dark though. Maybe adjusting levels may have helped?
