Great tones and gradient background. A DPC classic here that you've executed well.

G'luck for the challenge

The lighting is a little "hot" for my liking. There're a lot of hotspots created by the direct lighting. To fix this you might want to diffuse the light onto the coffee more.

The lighting aside, I like the rhythm and texture in this shot, I would have perhaps chosen a more extreme angle and got a slightly shallower DOF to put the focus on a particular coffee bean and imply said rhythm and texture as opposed to making it more of a focal point like you have here.

A nice idea, but some technical points let you down a little. Hope my comment helps :)

The bug has an awesome expression on its face! Did it sign the model release? ;)

Congrats on giving a bug macro an expressive quality. Great shot.

Sorry to say this, as I'm sure you'll have plenty of similar comments, but this isn't a close up OR a macro. I can understand some people submitting close ups (ie: not TRUE macros) but this is more like a tightly cropped still life to me.

That said, this is a very pleasant photo :) it conveys a great mood and the tones are wonderful. The reflections on the glass aren't too imposing and glary and you've manage to stay out of reflections way. Maybe a slightly tighter crop would have been better here as there's some unaccounted for space on the left hand side. Nice shot but it doesn't meet the challenge.

4 (if it met the challenge I would have given it a 7)

A touch oversaturated, maybe? It's always a little risky saturating to that extent. Regardless, this is a good take on a DPC classic and I think you've executed this pretty nicely. Good job, 8

I sincerely hope this shot does extremely well, although it's not technically a macro, it's an extreme close-up and the originality (not to mention interesting nature) of the subject appeal to me. Small gripe about the hotspots on the teeth but that's a very minor detraction.

A 9 from me and good luck!

I thought it was you, and I was going to say as much initially, but then I checked the ground and it looks a little different to your minimalism entry.

Congrats on the top 10 finish ;) I thought this was a fantastic entry

Not a huge fan of the smashing pumpkins myself, but I'm definitely a fan of this photo. More vanishing point than leading lines going towards a subject but I'm not going to be overly picky. I love the rhthym of this shot, and the tones are fantastic.

Perhaps if you had a person somewhere along here? I hope you don't get too many people voting you down for not meeting the challenge

9 from me and good luck!

Very strange!

I like this shot, though, strangely composed and great use of leading lines. I like the depth of field incorporating the sheep and the plank fence support (although the sheep is SLIGHTLY less sharp). Great colours, lovely composition and balance and there're all sorts of interesting textures in this shot. I like it
