Under the Old Oak Treeby Studio18Comment: I am not normally a fan of B&W. (If God intended we shoot in B&W, He wouldn't have invented Kodachrome!) But in this case, the B&W was a superb choice. The framing of the scene with branches overhead and the dark foreground is magnificent. There is an interesting juxtaposition of emotion going on here ... the dark framing elements are ominous, but the lighter distant subject is peaceful, pastoral even. Makes for an interesting photo I would return to often, and look at longer. Focus and DOF are terrific. Museum quality. Among my top picks. |

Totonac Headdressby LeighroyComment: The detail in your photo is exceptional. The DOF is virtually perfect. Colors are vibrant. Composition is quite good. But all that aside, it makes me feel good. Thanks. Well done. Among my top picks. |

The Shooters Of Slot Canyonby TommyMoe21Comment: Wonderful image. I have seen many like it over the years and I'm always appreciative when they are well done. You've gone a step beyond by showing the photographers. At this site and for this audience, I believe it was a brilliant compositional move. Firstly it lends a sense of scale to the photo which is rarely done. Secondly, it adds some life to the photo. Among my top picks. |

Aged Giantby ngremourComment: Very nice image. I like your use of shadows to creat a somber expression. Dark background shows off the subject very well. This is among my top picks. That being said I am troubled by the border. To me it is an awkward thickness. It reminds me of a National Geographic border but it would need to be thicker to complete the metaphore. Or it ought to be thinner so as not to over power the photo. The border helps, but it could have helped more. |

my favorite shapeby jossyComment: "Shape" gets lost in the busy-ness of the subject for me. Decent image. Make it bigger next time ... use all 640 pixels available to you. PM me if you want to discuss size. |

Oranges are round!by carloComment: Composition is okay but desaturating the image didn't help in this instance. For this to score highly in my estimation, I would want to see anatomically correct texture in all the fruit (i.e. knock my socks with great texture!), which implies greater DOF, very precise focus plus somewhat different lighting. These are my preferences and you may disagree. |

Martiniby DrAchooComment: Based on the thumb, I expected this to be a ho-hum-been-there-and-done-that image. What a pleasant surprise. Colors and contrast help distinguyish it from the genre. Nice crop with thoughtful foreground/background shapes. Great fit for the challenge theme. Very well done. Among my top picks. |

Mobius Stripsby sgauriaComment: Not an especially new idea but very well executed. You have done a nice job capturing a wide spectrum of light levels. The shape is intrinsiclly interesting. The shadows, while subtle enhance the overall image. Lighting is subtly effective. Great job! |
