Light is Godby LevTComment: Just so you know, I gave this an 8. I liked the isolation of the face with the candlelight. I approve of your (sacriligeous?) title. The soft focus, expression, character of the image are all so pleasing to me. |

Dirk Duckie - The Grapest Maverick in Texasby L1Comment: A clever set up! But, I'm afraid, I was one of your 109 (impressive!) no. 5's. The two things that killed it for me were the blown highlights and the out of focus grapes--probably that and the fact that there were so many clever duckies...
I know you're a great people photographer! Studio is just another direction to stretch.
(and take heart, you could have a duckie sitting firmly in your top-scoring place...like me) |

...to get to the other side...by wkmenComment: I love "path" photos!
Perhaps you lost too much detail in the highlights. I think the subject has merit, lots of complication that holds interest here. Perhaps worth revisiting now that you have more advanced post-process skills? |

A Picture of a Pitcher Deciding Which Pitch to Pitchby rexComment: A worthy shot...worthy of more than a perfect 5.000!
There's so much going on here! The scores, the expression, the diagonals in the field, the inclusion of the fans! all lend to the moment. Do people think these are "easy" shots to get? I hereby deem you a victim of the challenge topic.... |

Clearing the Benchby dahkotaComment: This does lack contrast, but NOT interest. It seems to be caught between a B&W and a sepia. I suspect the low-side scores are about that or about its "fitness" for the challenge. Given that you have only 13 votes below a 4, and 16 above a 6, it's not so bad. Perhaps another one worth revisiting. (I know, we get so sick of an image during a challenge that it's hard to see it that way, but the long-view is nice sometimes.) |

Boundariesby dahkotaComment: I like big empty spaces in photos like this. It seems to say, what we make is insignificant, while at the same time forcing us to view the delicateness of what we (humans) make.
Great sky! A bit more drama in the light might have pleased the voters more...
You may be a winner on the most 5-ish thread for those 143 votes, but you've also made a fine image that may be worth revisiting in post-processing sometime. |

Stylin' Amish Man Catching Some Rays on the Beachby CutterComment: I am not worthy enough to comment as I have not earned any ribbons.
I like this, too. The composition, expression, texture are all fine. If you could bring the pink back to his skin-tone you'd have a very fine photo. (Challenge aside, now.) So many 8-10's! Must have impressed at least 41 people....Message edited by author 2005-10-12 14:19:23. |

AmyGPKweb.jpgby CreativeFlyPhotoComment: I love this!
What playfulness (in the adults) and you trying to be so serious and pose for the camera...but can't quite keep a face!
If it were mine, I'd wield a little PhotoShop magic and hang it on my wall. Thanks for sharing! |

What!by shocknurse1Comment: Oh! I like this one! Just a fun image with the bird's expression. Focus is a bit off--unfortunate. |
