Captures the essence of the book well and the reality aspect of the fire draws one in. I like it and it gets a 7 from me.

The floating mask works well and helps to meet the challenge. But there's something missing - I can't put my finger on it. I guess it's missing excitement? A 6 from me

Whilst i haven't read the book, it seems to me that it is about moral education. I can see the connection to fish and like the flow in the image. I find the colors and blending of colors works well to portray this fable and I see it as a modern representation of an old piece of writing. A 6 from me

I don't get a feel of a crime novel. I like the aged look, but feel that it could be a tad brighter. A 5 from me.

I loved the book. I'm not sure that it captures the essence of the plot - perhaps it looks a tad too staged. Black and white works and I like the fact that each boy is shown in different degrees of detail. From me a 5

Not sure about this one - there are elements I like about it (especially the window/door, the light and the person sitting in front of it) and bits I feel uncertain about (the face). For me, had the face been more out of focus than the person and the window, it would have made more sense, but it's a personal thing. I think the colors work well. A 5 from me.

Apt and meets the challenge. The colors hint at turmoil and changes and the overall impression creates the desired atmosphere. A 7 from me

Whilst this doesn't make me think of a film noir, I really like it, especially the contrast in light, and it's spot on for the title. A 6 from me
