Broken...I hate when that happens!

haha - i just saw another broken cork in the challenge not long ago and commented "i hate when that happens". anyways, i DO hate when that happens - but, interesting image and angle. perhaps a slightly cleaner/less dusty opener would've helped here, but it's still a strong image.

great subject and shot, i really like it - surprised there aren't more junker cars in this challenge. your DOF choice seems like you may have found the windshield the most interesting, and i think i agree. i'm curious if you got any interesting angles/shots of the windshield on its own - they could make for some great images!

very clean cut, which makes it even more interesting. normally i would want the broken object to be in focus, but for some reason this seems to work as well. very compelling and orderly looking (unnatural) arrangement, which i might not normally like but works well for this shot. some sharpness and color tweaking could've really made this one POP.

ooohh, i like it - very interesting interpretation and good find - i would also like this if it weren't for the challenge. too bad that white line intersects the thread, cuz that distracts me for some reason. either way, nice shot!

Comment:
ouch. i hope this thing was broken ahead of time

if not, i think you've reached a new level of "what people will do for challenges". perhaps a tripod and some tweaking in photoshop would've increased sharpness and made the colors pop.

perhaps cut the fingernails, since you can't help but look at them when you try to look at the face. no idea how you did this, but VERY creative interpretation.

powerful subject and topic, good composition.. but the color cast and grain seem to detract slightly.

seems like a quite unnatural arrangement for a broken bottle. perhaps a more scattered spread of the glass and, i hate to say it, more wine on the ground (well, let's not get hasty here! maybe more cranberry juice. or $2 charles shaw from trader joes ;).)

haha - excellent. perhaps more DOF would be in order, since i can't tell an advantage to just focusing on the first shell, nor a disadvantage if you had included the second one. maybe slightly more lighting, since the corners seem a bit dark

Pencil's broken...Spirit is not!

interesting idea. have seen another broken pencil so far, but not quite as many as i expected. broken pencil just seems thrown in there, and not necessarily the main focus/theme of the image. perhaps would've rotated the pencil to avoid displaying the USA (2) symbols.
