artificial orangesby nicklevyComment: I like the oranges against the out-of-focus abstract background. IMHO cropping out the whole right-hand part of the picture would improve it dramatically. |

Viperby RHoldenSrComment: A brilliant shot of the car, especially with the hood up and door open. But the overall focus is too sharp for the challenge, which wants some parts of the photo to be out of focus (shallow DOF). |

untitledby leafComment: I like the lacy texture of the ice against the almost leathery texture of the leaf. The out-of-focus background sets the central subject off well. |

Jinxedby orussellComment: Very interesting use of DOF. Possibly a slightly higher camera placement would have brought out the J in jinxed. |

Ladybugby ladpupmoeComment: Very nice separation of foreground from unsharp background. IMHO the ladybug could have used a bit more exposure. The background would be brighter, but I don't think that would matter much. |

White on Blueby agwrightComment: Nice use of DOF to separate the flower from the vase and the whole thing from the background. The vase comes across as misty and mysterious. |

Iris in declineby JC_HomolaComment: I like the idea of photographing a flower "in decline," and you have captured the colors and textures well. I would have liked this picture better if the ratio of sharp to unsharp were higher. |

Nighty-nightby johnmComment: The background is definitely out of focus, but it still comes through too busy. Something simpler and in tune with the doll would have been better, IMHO. |
