Round and roundby MelethiaComment: I really like the lines in this photo. It's a bit dizzying if you look at it for too long, but not in a negative way. More of a 'fear of heights' sensation. Have you tried to take this same picture with a longer exposure allowing the people in the scene to blur? It may not work, but then again, you may get an interesting effect from it. |

Bottle Bridgeby SteveJComment: The bright sunlight is washing out much of the texture and casting unpleasing shadows on the columns. The same shot taken at dawn or dusk would have improved a lot. With the dimmer and angled light, textured surface really pop out of a photo. |

Soft Curvesby dsmilComment: The lighting is very nicely done and it gives everything a natural look to it. The eye contact from the model also does a nice job of bringing the viewer into the photograph. My only objection is with the cropping of the plate. I think I would have preferred if the entire plate was in the frame. Of course, you may be wondering why someone would bother looking at the plate when there is a beautiful model in the frame. |

Escher's Mindby mhlambiComment: A nice abstract with very soothing lines. The shapes are pleasing to the viewer. If there was less noise and sharper edges, I think this image could really have popped off the screen. |

Sculpted by the Wind by SammieComment: Spectacular lighting and very pleasing texture in this photograph. The shapes in the dunes are very pleasing and kind of look like a sheet blowing in the wind. |

Fences of Warby mgarsteckComment: The monotone works well in this image. It gives a grim, almost painful, feeling to the viewer which ties in nicely with the subject of war. |

Dangerous Curvesby photonComment: This image played a trick on me. When I first looked at it, I saw the right side as the foreground and the left side as the background. The lines on the blade, in my mind, were motion blurs in the background. As such, I was scratching my head trying to figure out what I was looking at. Then all the sudden, the image popped and it made perfect sense. If the illusion is your goal, then job well done. However, to avoid giving that affect (and it's possible that my mind is the only one wired that way) it may have worked better if the background was black and the blade was lit up more. |

Which cuppa do you choose?by JudiComment: Nice use of colors and repetition. Overall, the image is soothing and peaceful. On the negative side (and there's always a negative side) the symmetry is off which gives the image an unbalanced feeling. Particularly the fact that the background is radiating from a point that is off center. While that may have been a choice, I think I would have liked it better centered. Also, I think a square crop may have worked better so that each corner is in the center of a cup. I may sound a bit picky, but when looking at a photo that uses symmetry, I like everything to be spot on (or off enough to be obvious) |

Koudaby jan_vdwComment: An interesting perspective to say the least. It is more customary to have the sharp focus on the face/eyes and allow the rear to fall back out of the field of focus. I suppose given the subject, it is safer to do it this way. Besides, many great photographs are achieved by breaking the expecations. Overall well done. I particularly like the way the lighter grass seems to form a halo around the top of the head. I just hope you aren't getting killed by people who thought the entire photo needed to be composed of warm colors. |

My Original Intimacy Shotby Patrick_RComment: I love how the tight bonding of the rubber bands show a sense of intimacy. And given the vast quantity of rubber bands, it is just screaming INTIMACY!!!
As such, sorry but it meets the challenge. 1.
(In case you were worried... No, that is not what I really scored this photo.) |
