To the Lighthouse: Virginia Woolf

Comment:
Luckily it didn't take you 10 years to get there ;) Don't know if this is Godrevy at all, they all look the same somehow. A dynamic looking sky, the lighthouse probably could have gone off centre a bit more for me would help, bur it probably depended on where you shot from at the time. You've handled the light quite ok. 5 .

The Secret Garden

Comment:
A good mood created that focuses more on a study of the child rather than the environment. I like how you have the faint image of the boy set in his usual surrounds. One of the few entries that really makes me feel the connection. 8.

Pretty scene, I like the shadow line dividing the peaks. The foreground treeline could have use a bit more definition (I find Nik software Viveza with control point great for this. So an inspired theme from the title rather than Harry awaiting his slow death contemplating his life. Certainly a scene for contemplation.5.

Comment:
Sure does have that alluring look. This one raises a lot more issues than what I would perceive as the first reading of the novel. Lighting is a bit uneven, the models stance and wardrobe does support the theme, and her gaze is spot on.5.

The Black Swan by Nassim Nicholas Taleb

The Black Swan by Nassim Nicholas Taleb
by Bensted

Comment:
The task of this challenge is a little like the Black Swan theory. "The extreme impact of certain kinds of rare and unpredictable events (outliers) and humans' tendency to find simplistic explanations for these events retrospectively" ;) I like the pose, mono secures a black swan too. The image has a pleasing graphic about it.5.

Call of the Wild
by BarbB

Comment:
Call of the Wild is a hard one, while a good shot of the lizzy, there's nothing for me to connect a reptile with Buck the sled dog in Alaska. The primary theme of the story is of survival and a return to primitivism, I can see somewhat that thought process here, and understand the constraints of coming up with the dog, snow, trappers etc anyway I like the shot regardless.5.

A literal interpretation, good focus on the droplets, Charlotte is a bit of a blob though, don't know if that is her best side. An interesting one to wander the eye through all the same.5.

Comment:
A good blur, gives the feeling of a marathon and the man at the back. Doesn't quite connect enough to the novel in any other way for me, but I like the shot all the same.5.

Blindness - José Saramago
by Alex_Petrini

Comment:
A well produced work, good choice with mono and the rain. I like the symbolism of distress/despair. I have a dislike for those eye prop things from overexposure to the zombie zombies, but they reinforce the story. Composition is good with good bokeh. Nice work.8.

"Please Sir, I want some more"
by Shifty_Powers

Comment:
An odd look, I feel I want to turn it upside down for some strange reason. The low key approach is ok, but the emptiness above the bowl leaves me feeling just that, not as an effect of the topic, but there is something lacking in the composition. Probably, because they are a man's hands you were without a boyish model, a low key face would have completed the picture for me.5.
