Well, all of the commenting sure has been interesting. :-)

One thing I hadn't thought of is that for many here this is still serious business (challenge entries). For me, with a few exceptions, I'm entering for the fun of it. In this case I basically submitted something just because of TPL2. Figured there would be a gazillion spider webs but what the heck, throw it in the ring anyway.

As for the spider, it was camera shy ... actually quite funny ... I could set up on this side of the web all day and shoot if I wanted to, but as soon as I got within 5 or 6 feet of it on the other side ... scramble, scramble, GONE! Up to the edge and out of sight. So that's one of the reasons you're seeing the "belly" rather than the "top" of the spider. I actually didn't mind so much because the background was much more appealing in this direction. :-D

Remind next time to ask the spider to move the web so I can change the background even more. LOL!

(Know that I only vote in even numbers.)

A six for you. Nothing here moves me or intrigues me, but technically it's very good, if not perfect.

A true classic, which can't be said of many other entries. However, it would have been nice to have some specific reference to the book beyond the anonymous spider and pearl-drop dappled web. The water drops are pretty as captured but overall the image lacks impact to raise it above an average score. 5

Overall the image is just ok. I like the water droplets in the web, and I like the light green and tan colors of the background. The dark green doesn't fit to me. A different angle perhaps would have made the background better.

I would also liked to have seen more detail on that spider.

Gave it a 4

i'm disappointed you couldn't train the spider to spin messages into it's web, unless those dots are actually morse code.
*checks*
it's rubbish, all it says over and over is "seven" when clearly this is undoubtedly an 8

Not my favorite subject, but beautiful web capture

Love the delicate drops, focal depth. Very, very nice. (Not voting)

One of the better web entries but still nothing exceptional. The water drops are fine but the spider itself lacks something. Might not be anything you could do. I would have tried to have more green in the background. 5

Beautiful. I would have popped the colors a bit more in PP, but that's just me. Your image is fine, and in fact id like to give it a 7

A literal interpretation, good focus on the droplets, Charlotte is a bit of a blob though, don't know if that is her best side. An interesting one to wander the eye through all the same.5.

Lovely detain on the rain drops. Nice image overall. But just a little plain to me.

A lovely shot with droplets and web. We see versions of it often though. The background is particularly pretty and the roundness of the web is awe inspiring, therefore quite good for the novel.

7...these photographs have always seemed magical to me. Perhaps I'm to much a romantic...and the fact that spiders don't freak me out helps too. A little queen sits atop her web full of pearls waits for dinner to come her way.

competent macro shot of a spider. Dull, centered composition without enough web to make it dramatic. If the web were completely invisible and we only saw the water drops, that might be interesting. 3

Such crisp, sharp water drops and gorgeous background blur! Nice capture!

I love all the dew drops on this. I can't tell if this is a bit soft or not. (I've been having problems with my eyes, so it might be me.) I do wish there was more detail in Charlotte, though. She seems dark. I'm wondering if she was lightened, if we could see more details. :)

Nice find!
