As Night Falls on the Windy Cityby essayComment: A beautiful cityscape that is both complex and simple at the same time. The overall warm tone of the image invites the eye to wander around and linger looking at the image to extract the little details. From a technical perspective, it is nearly perfect with no major flaws even though the white blooms are right on the edge of being overdone. This could very well be a commercial type image. Well done. |

Mister Grizby GallatinComment: There is an interesting optical illusion in this and I wonder if the author has seen it - the bears nose appears to be slightly twisted which gives the bear a rather comic feel to it - kind of goofy look which is funny. A good solid natural image with good definition. A very good capture. |

Another Winters day in the Coromandel NZby julesskiComment: For some reason, this shot feels forced to me - almost as if it were cropped to pick the best elements out of a marginal image. Which is not a bad thing - it's done all the time, but in this case it feels just a little awkward. Having said that, I really like the mix of subtle color and texture. I feel that the image could be a little sharper - as if it's just on shy of being properly focused. Having said that, it does have a certain asthetic quality that is peaceful and attractive. Nicely done. |

Goby by MotekComment: Excellant detail and I like the longer look with the DOF fade - the detail is incredible showing the natural grain of the, what I assume is, a plant. One little nitpick - on the left there is a small area - almost a like a hot pixel - that draws the eye fairly quickly away from the subject. I might also have taken off the bottom 15/20% in a crop to tighten the image up, make it a little shorter - it's longer that it needs to be. Amazing detail on the fish - that is very cool. |

Its a matter of taste...by ineedauniquenameComment: A lovely little vignette that feels very real and natural. You don't often get that type of impression of a baby in black and white. Very nice conversion, although the texture of the cheeks are a little washed out. The very slight grain effect is a plus. Well done. |

The Midas Touchby malskiComment: Compression errors, ugly false color does nothing to create an interesting impression. Over dark, no detail to speak of. |

Broaken Heartby tvsometimeComment: Sometimes it's the effort that should be applauded rather than the technique or artistic impression. This is a great effort showing a good eye for a detail that most would have overlooked or even ignored. While not a perfect duo-tone image, or even one that could be called "duo-tone", it's the eye and capture that is important here, not the technical or artistic scoring. |

Dreaming Ansel Adamsby Rino63Comment: Adams was a photographer with an eye for the simple and while there are elements of that in this image, it is much to busy to truly evoke an impression of Adams or even an homage. However, as a duo tone image, it works on several levels and technically, is a good demonstration of tone control even if it's overly gray. |

Spectatingby darynComment: Either more color or a different conversion technique is very much needed in this rather flat and unintersting image. While the author's intent is clear, the attempt at creating a more advanced artistic impression doesn't work. |

From the Back of the Dresser Drawerby talmyComment: Inventive and a novel look at the challenge subject. With no technical issues to speak of, the clever use of space and subject matter rates a perfect 10 just for being different and out of the ordinary. Well done. |
