Pondering the Questionby MagnumphotographyComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Lovely moment - a real contrast between indoor and outdoor worlds - the warm interior juxtaposed with the pondering pigeon works so well. The sub-text of food to be had and the pigeony obsession with scavenging offer some resonace too.
Critical stuff: Not really
Overall: Eclectic and well-presented. I like it. |

Doin' it right on the wrong side of town!by snafflesComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Bold, bold, bold! Stand out contrast and a fascinating composition / POV. Took me a while to work out what I was looking at but when I did it delivered a real 'aha' moment. Cheeky but edgy - that's not an easy combination to pull off!
Critical stuff: Nope
Overall: A triumph! (I'm referring to the image, I'm not trying to identify the brand of the bra!) |

november fiveby bspurgeonComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: A strong conceptual style - one that I'd associate with jmritz - there are things to be seen here and other things to be imagined. The POV is at hip view while things are taken in bags to the waiting table - a dark underground room - preparations for an invitation-only fringe soiree...
Critical stuff: I don't always like this sort of work but the presence of choice is so clear that it is inappropriate to be critical.
Overall: Interest beyond its pixels. |

follow the sunby bmartuchComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Great sense of perspective and bold low contrast processing. It certainly converts a sense of photographic choice.
Critical stuff: As you've probably gathered from my lukewarm words above, this image hasn't quite worked for me. I feel the low contrast has robbed the scene of any drama and although I can accept that you are presenting an abstraction, the white vignette pulls it back from success in my view.
Overall: I admire your vision but this isn't one for me. |

Moth's wingsby odriewComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Oh my word - this is the sort of work I would like to do but never have the imagination or subtlety to pull off. I love the stylised coloration and the jumping girl. I really like the ambiguities - time of day, temperature, the details of the model, the 'why' of the shot. Just brilliant.
Critical stuff: Nope
Overall: Instant fave. Love this. |

Christmas Window Wishesby markwileyComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: This is a delightful image - great foreground and background offer loads of intensity. I really like the high contrast handling too. You lower POV (down to the girl's level) involves the viewer and creates a sense of being there. The reflections in the window are particularly compelling and offer a great sense of space.
Critical stuff: Nope
Overall: Standout composition and sweet subject without an ounce of schmaltz. Great stuff. |

Into the Valleyby rooumComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: What an interesting rendition of this scene. The tilt/shift technique and the underexposure offers up something dark and mysterious - almost claustrophobic in its intensity. I think even the border works - the bright band making the image itself even more oppressive by comparison.
Critical stuff: Nope.
Overall: Fascinating. |

Positives: Extraordinary portrait; fantastically bold too. Great proportions, great contrast, outstandingly interesting character.
Critical stuff: Not so keen on the sepia tone and not so keen on the background line.
Overall: Outstanding portrait. So full of interest. |

Abstract 2by bobkComment: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Great how the individual elements hang together - the notion of 'gallery' on the right adding textual weight to the visual elements. The colours are really complementary too.
Critical stuff: I do kind of with you were lower and straighter-on with you POV - that would have accentuated the canvas illusion even more.
Overall: What a great eye. Effective. |

Alana and Ollieby jomariComment: I'm going to give an alternate view and say that I think the vignette is intrusive upon a charming portrait. |
