Auuuuugh... every time I see this photo, I'm filled with so many emotions: awe, wanting to know more of her story... an only a teeny tiny bit of envy. What art!

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: This is an amazing portrait Lev - more so given the original file; I can't remember where I saw that, but to have seen the potential and then to pull off an edit to this effect is amazing. Toning and structure is just brilliant and the expression of the women priceless.

Critical stuff: I think the linearly textured background over her left shoulder is perhaps a little distracting - might it have been selectively blurred? (Nit-picking!)

Overall: A magnificent portrait - very well seen and masterfully edited.

are the lines of a book
that narrates wisdom harvested with age.

Wonderful portrait full of life and details - excellent B&W tones. To me, her gaze speaks of things she has seen and a gaze that is a reflection that the journey is getting closer to the final destination.

Despite the fabulous tones created by the B&W contrast and the "look" you captured, any one of this age generally has a pair of glasses on too, making the shot impossible to get. Great vision and timing.
