Good light and composition. All about the music. 9

Very cool photo. Soul seems cliche but damn it it's got it.

A good idea although the left side of the frame is more clutter than complement.

i like the concept of the shot - focusing on the action rather than the face - but I am torn as to whether the mike stand in the piano is really helping out the composition

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: I like the choices you've made here, focussing on the stands rather than the musician - it works though; you've made the scene, the context and to a sense the mood your subject. I like that. Your tones are perfect - exactly the right amount of contrast for the scene.

Critical stuff: None really.

Overall: An unusual interpretation of the scene which communicates much.

I like the mono treatment and the way you've gone for the business end as opposed to the face but I feel the equipment dominates the scene too much, good luck
