I like the dark mood, the bold colour, the the strong simple composition. It has a couple of very bothersome clangers for me though. It is oversharpened to the degree where the resulting halos are quite distracting. Also, it drives neurotic me crazy when there are spelling mistakes in the title. Good job overall: 6. Good luck.

Very interesting subject, and a great photo. The slight graininess somehow makes it seem all the more desolate. Excellent photo.

Very nice picture. I like the sky and the bright yellow/orange of the light. Would have been nice keeping the sky empty of disturbing shapes as we can see in the bottom left corner.

after looking at the other submissions, this is a sight for sore eyes. Thanks for the awesome idea, thanks for the good title, thanks for not taking a picture of a neon sign, thanks for the effort. I'm giving you a 10 because everyone else sucks (and your picture is also quite good).

Hi there! This is my 2nd comment on the website, so I'm still not sure on how to actually do this :P Also forgive me for my English ;)

I'm clearly not a pro at photography (taking or commenting), but it like the contrast between the yellow/orange of the lamp with the dark sky. The barbed wire tells me it might be a prison's lamp, it kinda makes me feel happy I'm sitting here instead of in there.

All in all, I think it's a good pic :)

Nice composition and a good capture. I love the colours and the angle you have chosen and the wires too. But I feel that during post-processing, the edges have gone all wonky - and it's not too pleasing. Maybe you could try the to create the same image without destroying those areas.

I think maybe if u cropped out the building in the bottom left the pic would turn out better. 5

Well, I love the composition. The placement of the light in the frame is very good. The story being told here is powerful and engaging. I hate to nitpick, but you've apparently over sharpened this image (haloing apparent on hard edges) and there is some JPG compression artifacts. Other than that and your misspelled title, it's altogether very nice. Keep it up!

I wonder if you'll get 'it's too dark' comments. I think it adds to theme and the photo itself. The barbed wire in silouette is a good idea. With the ominous dark clouds it certainly works for me. Oh I suppose the bright light could have been toned done a fraction, but what the hay like I said it works for me.

I really like this photo, but I am not sure I can say it truly meets the challenge. Great shot though.

pretty good color, is that the natural sky, or a Heida burn? It's a lovely pic.

This is a very good shot. I like the sharp angle of the wall, and the barbwire against the moody sky. The yellow glow of the lamp is also very striking. Unfortunately, I'm not really getting a feel of neon from the lamp light--it has more of a warm incandescent quality to it.
