My aim was to stir up the viewers emotions.
Your interpretation is as good as anyone else's.
I nearly didn't enter this shot, I had many others to chose from my trip to the Philippines, which was full of candid shots. But when I saw this it just resonated some very strong emotions!
The title is 'holding on' in french.
I'm overwhelmed by all the nice comments, I actually feel like I did win a ribbon, THANKS TO ALL.
And thanks to Don for awarding me a
Posthumous Red Ribbon - my 1st Thanks for the appreciation.

This was a 10 from me Anita. This image shows so much emotion that I couldn't believe it didn't place in the top 3. It really tells a story. Apparently, 10 other people thought the same thing.
Truly beautiful, Anita, and completely deserving of all the kind words you've received. Love the toning - is it a quadtone by chance? Looks like one I used to use a bit.
You got a 10 from me, Anita. Great capture of a beautiful moment, like a dramatic movie scene!
Btw, funny how the PH red winner is on the other side of the world, and the yellow winner is right here in my office. :)
Got a 10 from me Anita. And I so disagree with your first commenter. Truly expected a higher score but I suppose it didn't do badly considering it's blurry :)
Great capture! The boy really is holding on which is warmly received and reciprocated by his mom. Precious moment, can't wait for your next challenge entry =)
extraordinaire (excuse my French) - those layers always make me emotional, so I apologies. See this for example
I wonder if this is water or some glass?
The monochrome conversion has a whiteroom quality to it, which I envy.
