This was the first image of the take. And it was cold for him....poor little takka. He got a reward for his troubles though.

Tanguera asked a couple of times if this was Neat's son. No...this is my youngest child. I didn't even realise until Tanguera's comments, that Neat had done this type of image. I initially started out doing another style shot and then afterwards just had a play with my son with the water and this was the result. I liked the detail in the water and his expression so I went with this image for the challenge. This is not the first time I have done this style shot. I first did this type of photo with all of my three children about 5 or 6 years ago. It is getting quite warm here right now so this was a good way for them to cool down.

When I see most splash images like this, I am always disappointed to see the trail of water above the persons head. To get the complete shape you need to use a sharp object on the persons head. I this case I used a hair comb with a broken spike which I stood up in the comb so there was no sharp edges near the persons head. A balloon of water was then dropped onto the spike causing the shape and the lack of water trail and due to the balloon shaping around the person there is no hard impact as the spike releases any pressure in the balloon. The spike falls to the ground during impact causing no harm to the person.

Very amazing picture. Well done and perfectly balanced. The colocasting is very natural and good feel too. I was surprised by the shape you get from the water. I think the secret is to launch as a whole a lot of water. Like using a gate or something to liberate it. I´ll realy apreciate some detais from the making of. Curious...

I've seen this type of photographs several times lately on DPC.
What I do like very much are the tiny tiny water drops around the model, which gives the background almost the impression of a sky full of stars :)
