Two young girls looking up at Santa. I hope you guys will get what I'm trying to tell with this picture. When you are young nobody has told you what to believe in. Your faith is pure.

 Comments Made During the Challenge

Looks like a human intervention to me (Santa). Ah well, the girls are cute as buttons so I'll give you a 7. jacko.

I'm not quite sure how this meets the challenge. The hand of man is all over Santa Claus... especially the hand of the Coca-Cola company :P. The composition is really nice and you've pushed all the right buttons technically, so it's a good photo. Not very interesting to me though.

I confess I'm stupid and confused about this photo and the challenge relevance. I'm really trying hard to give you the benefit of the doubt but I'm not sure how to connect it, so I'm not sure how to vote.

This is a GREAT candid shot but I don't understand how it ties into this challenge at all... - setzler

challenge not met (according to my interpretation of the rules, no humans, or obvious signs of human presence should be visible). sorry. having got that out of the way, i still would like to critique your photo. i just love the total look of faith and awe (you titled your photo well) on the little girls' faces. i also like your overall composition of only including santa partially. another nice touch is the amount of reds and pinks in the photo, they kind of round the whole thing off. a couple of things (not all of which are in your control) that i would've contemplated doing differently. i don't like santa's hand position with the thumb sticking out much, did you get more shots (hoping he's moving his hand), or did you try moving a little further to the left (if that was possible)? that might also have included the third little girl more in the photo. i would like to see the girls shoes, and i would also have cropped a bunch off the top of the photo (probably just above the head of the man behind the woman dressed in black). the space above adds nothing to the photo and just distracts a little from your actual main subjects. just my two cents.

While I like this shot an awful lot, especially the expression on the kids' faces, this seems like a bit of a cop out for this week's challenge in my opinion.

What great looks on their faces! Priceless! I only wish the woman in brown behind them wasn't there. I almost think you could have cropped right above their heads and still got the Santa effect. Really nice, especially for the season. I'm just not sure how well it meets the challenge. DPz

I bet you got a lot of comments on this one. Its terribly hard to show the kid's emotion without missing the challenge. Sorry!

What a shame the 2 adults are behind the children. The looks on the faces of the children at Santa, plus those in line, are tops. The awe in the face of the little girls in red can't be expressed in words. You titled it correctly. Wonderful job. Would be an 8 from me. PTL

Funa and magical image, great subject and angle. Perfect for the season.

Look at the awe in those girls\' eyes! It\'s a stretch to fit this into this week\'s challenge though because everything in this photo is a result of man\'s influence. It\'s a very cute photograph with good lighting. The third little girl is obscured by the red suited guy though. One of my favorite parts of this photo is the little blond girl in the back of the lline and seeing her excitement and anticipation all over her face. This is a very emotive photograph.

This is a cute photo, and I understand what your trying to say, but I don't think this fits the challenge extremely well. Faith must be taught in some way (by man) and the challenge was to have no obvious signs of man showing. All the clothes were made by man, and even Santa was fabricated by man. As far as the photo goes, kid pictures are always better when you get down on their level. Also the background is extremely bothersome, I would have suggested using a different DOF, so you could blur out the background more. Although I see how you could justify this picture for the challenge, I would have maybe tried to use something different, and while the photo has visual appeal, cute wise, I don't care for it. -3

I'm being decidedly more liberal in interpreting the challenge than some are, but I don't see how you don't see human intervention or the hand of man here. ?
12/16/2002 03:24:29 PM
I like the expressions of the children, but I don't see how it relates to te theme of the competition.
12/16/2002 02:25:03 PM
There's the hand of man right there! (santa's) I must really be missing something here, the connection to the challenge! Nice photo, wrong challenge. 6 Swash

What great expressions....all the kids. lol. Nice shot.
12/16/2002 10:35:43 AM
I can't in any way find anything in this shot that makes it relevant to the challenge.
12/16/2002 04:17:51 AM
This is a very nice picture, but I think you misunderstood the challenge. I'll try during the week to think of how this could relate, but I don't hold out much hope...
12/16/2002 02:16:04 AM
Only Man has faith. No other element of nature has that kind of reasoning or belief.

"Details: Photograph a subject that shows NO signs of human intervention. Good luck." Those are humans...
12/16/2002 01:23:16 AM
Don't see how this fitts into this challenge.
12/16/2002 12:33:33 AM
I just don\'t see how this fits the challenge...
12/16/2002 12:33:32 AM
This just doesn't meet the challenge and so I can only vote a 3.
12/16/2002 12:20:25 AM
Photograph a subject that shows NO signs of human intervention. Enough said. This photo is nothing BUT human intervention. Sorry.
