Trillium is one of many plants whose seeds are spread by ants. It is a favorite food of whitetail deer. A white trillium serves as the emblem and official flower of the Canadian province of Ontario. The large white trillium is the official wildflower of Ohio. Its common name in North Carolina is Toadshade. These are from the trillium garden at our local botanical garden. They grow in the wildwood, under the trees.
