Hi! I have often done my best to capture this interesting flower in the field, so I especially admire this fine shot. You probably already know, it's also called Love-in-a-Mist, & is dedicated to the Christian saint, St. Catherine and is offered to the saint on the 25th of November. Also Nigella Sativa oil (made from the seeds) was found in Tutankhamen's tomb. It is known to have been used by Cleopatra for it's health and beauty giving qualities. Hypocrates, the grandfather of todays scientific medicine, regarded Nigella Sativa as a valuable remedy in hepatic and digestive disorders. I thought you might find these random bits of lore interesting (if you don't already know). Thanks for entering this fine shot, wish it had scored higher.

This is a lovely bright study. Could do well in any number of DPC challenges. Spare a thought for over-sharpening your images if submitting to NG. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt but they reject very easily on suspicion of PP other than Dodge and Burn. It's well framed and exposed. Oddly there are no harsh shadows so if you used flash, it was very well positioned and directed. Could be used as long as the processing was minimal.

Really beautiful pattern; well presented. DOF is perfect. One of nature's more interesting pieces of art.
