Somewhat boring, but I liked the colors and the contrasts between the boats.

My first thought when I first viewed this was that it was upside down because of the lettering. But of course it isn't. I would have to agree that it is somewhat boring as it is but it probably didn't have to be. It is very difficult to offer how to make the photo more striking by not actually seeing the scene. I think there are some very good elements to work with such as the white snow, the color and texture of the boats, the branches and the rope. I may have tried to show more of the snow and/or displayed the boats at an odd angle. Maybe you could have even taken a shot from underneath the boats aiming upward with a blue sky behind them. Even if you think you have a great idea at the time for the composition it is worthwhile to also explore every other possible way to view the scene. There is probably one angle you never would have thought of that looks great in the camera. It looks like there are many nice textures in the snow with the branches, leaves, and wood structure that would be fun to look at as well. The image appears properly exposed with good color and sharpness. I think it is a nice photo that has the potential to be great.

Cute title. I like this-- especially the redness of the canoe.

Nice clear shot, with fairly good composition, I think I would have liked to have seen it cropped in about an inch or so on the right hand side. Not high impact for me, possibly because I have no real interest in canoes! However, I do like the colors, and the juxtaposition of old against new. Overall a nice shot. lhall 7

There are some interesting shapes and textures in here, but I'm not sure what I'm looking at! What are these things? Maybe it's a cultural barrier, because the theme of this Free Study challenge has turned out to be northern hemisphere wintery photos, and I'm sitting here in my southern hemisphere summer clothes :).

The composition is a little bit awkward, I'm not sure what is supposed to hold my attention. I keep going back to the older object, because I like the weathered paint on it, but the photo isn't interesting to me overall.

So, who got married? the canoe rack? Good photo, great color and focus. Title helps with the interest factor (a lot!) 7 Swash

Nice title. I like the color and texture in those boats. The background is interesting with the snow.

So which canoe/kayak is the borrowed one? :o) The clean red really stands out in this shot, and it contrasts well against the older-looking hulls. Composition wise, I'd have liked to see a little more of the blue hull, or perhaps a slightly wider or closer crop (depending on what you wanted to make the main subject), but I do like this crop.

Neat shot, colors are great and I love the title. Which one is borrowed? Good job. DPz

I see old, new, blue which is borrowed? This is a great photo. Would have done well in the "blue" challenge. The snow make you blue that you can't use the canoes for a while. Georgeous photo. Well done.

Great execution for the title of this picture. Great crop, lighting and composition. Good job.

A very sharp beautiful image. The thing that bothers me is how the red boat is cropped at the top, I think it would have worked better if it was more inside the frame. Just an opinion.

I love the weathered white boat. I almost wish I could see more of this - but I'll trust you cropped for a good reason. :-) 8

Great title for the picture. I don't know if I like the contrast between the new and old in this picture though, it just doens't appeal to my eye.

LOL Very cute capture here.

I took a couple very similar shots - glad I didn't submit one! Nice colors and focus.

Which one was borrowed...? :)

This is a particularly nice photo... I really enjoy the contrasting theme of the summertime canoe fun and the snow covered background. When warm weather comes back to your part of the world, maybe these boats will be back in service again :) I also love the color combination here... great shot :) - setzler

Just last week I took a picture of a pile of canoes! Only mine weren't in snow. Nice job here. I love the birch bark looking one. Good job!

Great title. not that that matters a whole lot, but it is quite catchy. I really like the canoes. That red is very red. I like the combination of the 3 canoes. Your focus and clarity are great, and the angle and framing/cropping are great as well. You have done an excelent job with this shot. Good luck in the challenge.
