Challenge: Light on White V (Minimal Editing I*)
Collection: Challenges
Camera: Canon EOS-5D
Lens: Canon EF 24-105mm f/4.0L IS
Date: May 19, 2011
Galleries: Animals, Studio

Possibly some DNMC votes, since the subject is a bit darker than I had intended. Tried a different model, however my friends white dog was horrible to work with. She was so scared and nervous of the lights and camera, that she bit my finger. First time I bled just for a challenge. :0/ So I used my trusty little feline model, who will do anything for a Q-tip.

Getting that backdrop pure white was more challenging than I thought. I used three lights and two reflectors to try my best to expose the image correctly. That little bit of sensor dust in the right corner is driving me crazy. Hope it does OK....but more than anything it was a learning experience to try to get this image correct in camera only. I have never entered a minimal editing challenge yet....but this was a really great experiment for learning.

Congrats on the HM! Great job with exposure in-camera. I found the challenge to be a learning experience also, but my subject was much easier. Your subject has much more personality also (and I'm really liking those eyes)!

I'm loving your comments... (and the image, of course... it's brilliant!).

I had SUCH a hard time getting a truly white background... since I thought it was mandatory for an image in this challenge...

You've done it very well... I love this! Congrats on your ribbon!

quite well done. I had chosen a closer crop, though, which had brought out more detail, had enhanced the composition and you had got rid of a part of the grey fur in the foreground

That's too much for words. I was hit three (or more?) times with cats in this challenge and start developing a painful longing to adopt one. Lucky that I cat-sit on occasion. But a black one.
