For me this is the Ben hur of submissions..

The shot is taken in the garage using two flashes, an Nikon SB24 on the right fired into a brolly from a sync cable, and an old Hanmiex job with a snoot on the left fired using an optical slave.

The only other light is the 100W light clipped to the bonnet of the car. I used a black drop cloth to keep the brolly flash light off the car, and another over a window behind 'Woody' to get rid of some bad relfections.

Shot on a tripod using manual settings, and the IR remote on the camera. Manual settings as neither of the flashes talk canon-speak.

I took 80 odd shots for this, testing different bits of it, in a rather cold garage (middle of the winter here) so i hope you like it..

This shot has something for everyone, a Woody, complex lighting, sharp focus, soft focus, negative space, 1/3rds composition, a fast car, props, and it even meets the challenge (A miniature piston that woody's holding, in case you missed it). The only things I'm missing are a flower, and someone's cute furry pet! :-).

Postediting was just slight curves then scale, USM, sharpen, border. Using gimp. Shot is full frame.

Lets see how we go in the voting on this one, hopefully not too many other folks use Woody!

I like this one, thought it would go a bit higher. Only thing I have doubts about is the scale, but otherwise, very nice.

This pic has problems but it also has amazing depth and an allegorical feeling.

Great imagination on this shot.
The subdued lighting in the background was perfect for this composition. The lighting on the Wooden man is a bit "rough", and the blue streak on the arm is a bit distracting.
Well Done, and a well-deserved ((7)).

I would have liked to see the car a little lighter, but still a clever idea and shot

I don't get the miniature perspective here because I don't have a point of reference. How do I know the figure and piston are not full size?
plus I'm just weary of the wooden figures 5

Cool idea. The car is a little dark to make the illusion work as the man and the engine need equal light (presumably, your "man" would have his full attention under the hood). Also, I think this is the inverse of the challenge, but I am giving the benefit of the doubt for that.

I'm not quite sure it fits the challenge... but I think it's a great photo nonetheless!

Very cute. This would be better if the light sources matched in temp and direction.

Interesting idea, but it looks too busy, you may lose points for being a "thinker." Nice lighting.
