Composition : The inclusion of the still woman with the stroller definitely made this shot for me. She is placed perfectly. Also, the inclusion of the ride operators "inside" the motion worked very well in my opinion. The empty space at the bottom concerned me and I have to wonder if you had shot from a lower vantage point, could you have included the stroller (an important element to me) but excluded the not so interesting ground under the carousel? Just a thought :)

Exposure/Lighting : Again, the only issue I have is with the ground. It is so dark, especially in comparison to the lights of the ride, that I wonder if the shot suffered for it.

Focus : Excellent job here. The sharp focus of the "mother" watching the ride plays excellently against the action blurred ride. I especially like the timing that placed what appears to be an older child holding an infant. The infant and the "mother" seem to be making eye-contact. Wonderfully done!

Emotion/Challenge : Absolutely nailed it. Great shot!

Opinion : I was surprised to see this place 37th. I thought it was going to be much higher (although 37 is nothing to sneeze at). Great effort!

I thought this one would've got a lot higher up in the ratings. Thanks for all the great comments anyway...and special thanks to the guy who was "TOO BUSY" to depress the caps lock key!

I like your concept. The contrast between the woman standing still and the carousel in motion is nice. Unfortunately the carousel itself is not so nice. In my opinion the motion blur is a tad too much. A slightly faster shutter would be better. It looks very wild because almost everything is in motion. I would like some parts being still and giving the eye some rest. -stephan

Great light, good shot. What if the horses were seen more clearly?

Good way to use the lady standing in front for a point of contrast. This picture is much better because of it. - Inspzil

Great use of a staic model in the foreground, but you could have done a bit more with it, like get a lower angle to help contrast the grey against the colours.

Nice colors and composition. Meets challenge just fine. I would rather have seen the the surroundings blurred and the children having fun more in focus. Just an ideea.

not bad.. I would like to see this shot with the panning technique to see which I like better... a stopped merry go round with a blurred foreground might be neat

Good shot. The lady is in focus great, while the motion blur of the carousel contrasts completely against her. It looks great.

Fun shot. I think the bottom could of been cropped a bit more. Good work. The composition is very nice as is the colors.

i would have panned on the ferris wheel and had the person watching blurred - or taken the shot from the ferris wheel outward with the world blurring by

Good concept, excellent execution. The way the \'fixed\' figure provides a static point of reference is perfect.
