excellent details in the cabbage - but the light almost seems too 'studio' like

Not as Weston as many of the other entries I've seen. Much less derivative. However. That Weston inspired you to do something equally good but totally unique is enough for me.

The texture is fantastic. Based on my read of Weston though, I don't think this hits it. I think Weston is more obsessed by form, motion, and tends towards the abstract. There is practically an X in the center of a circle on this subject at your angle, the form does not suggest motion at all, and the subject does not come off as abstract. Instead it is very matter of fact. Doing a cross section or pulling off a leaf and shooting more tightly cropped I think would really help.

Wonderful lighting to bring out the textures.

Fabulous texture well lit. I find the shadow split a little distracting.

A lovely image with great dynamic lighting which creates drama in the highlights and shadows, but in a challenge where we are meant to follow the style of Weston, the image's best feature becomes a detriment. A more subtle even light is more in Weston's style, letting textures rise up out of tone. A very nice shot, but not a great response to the challenge.

Excellent lighting! I expect this to finish high.

Gorgeous image, although I don't think Weston used studio light. I'm also not crazy about the light leak on the bottom right. And although the detail is fantastic throughout, cropping it tighter would also have Weston'ed it up a bit. (not voting)

Probably the best still life of vegetables I've seen yet. The focus and low light are spot on. Nice tribute. 8
