So...

Everything I thought of, I figured that someone else could do better. The coffee in a cup, the coffee beans, the coffee splashes.

I wanted to come up with something different and unusual. So I thought of birds.

I thought of trying something like this shot I did a couple of years ago:


The problem is that the squirrel keeps butting into my photos. My "self portrait without people" photo wasn't supposed to be a squirrel! This coffee photo wasn't supposed to be a squirrel! But he came anyway. He was there for just 2 or 3 shots. And I lucked out with this one. I loved his paw on the saucer and his other paw on the cup. It's an antique cup, and I was afraid that he would break it, but he was very careful.

What kind of coffee, you ask? Why hazelnut, of course!

4th?!! Wow!! I'm so surprised! I thought this was an awesome challenge -- I loved many of the photos. I didn't think I stood a prayer of top 10, simply because of the wonderful quality of the competition. Thanks, all!! :D

you blow me away with your squirrel and bird shots .. this is absolutely fantastic .. and i love your title .. congrats on the HM .. :)

Perfect focus. Excellent composition and light even though the pattern is slightly distracting, but no big deal. I love his little "hands." :) It made me smile. Oh and the catch light is terrific. 8
