 I rigged up a new lighting set-up especially for this shot. It made me envious of those of you who have a studio with everything already set-up. I think I should get an extra point or two for having to rig up a make-shift studio just for the occasion.

My homemade set-up included 3 hand-me-down vivtar flashes I acquired from yo_spiff one for the background and two for the front lighting I rigged up the two front flashes with homemade soft boxes made with cardboard and tinfoil. I taped them to stools because I haven't any flash stands. The background was the hardest part since I don't have any handy I had to use a piece of fabric stretched on a board. It wasn't very big so the crop ended up a bit tight.

I am quite pleased with the results. Nothing left but to see what score I can manage.


yeah! My first ribbon! Still in shock didn't think I would make it with my score. Thanks njsabs for your editing advice I think it really made the difference!

Amazing clarity and lighting. This is a fine portrait. I especially like the vibrant (but not too vibrant) colors. This is especially well done. My favorite in the challenge.
