I understand your frustration and I still think you have produced a wonderful image, however I see no reason for you to question the SC's common sense. The advanced editing rules couldn't be any more clear. Using PP to introduce motion (not just blur) is mentioned specifically.

sorry about your DQ Kobi! To lose a ribbon, a blue, in a Free Study is tough. but it is a great image, regardless. love it.
02/14/2011 09:24:00 AM
I wonder if you'd be willing to post your original? I'd like to see the difference between it and the "excessive motion blur".

It must be very frustrating to lose your first blue. Or any ribbon, at any point, for that matter.

It still is spectacular photography!
02/14/2011 02:10:05 AM
does gussian blur permitted?
anyway, I agree with leo it looks like this site quncil could use a little bit of common sense here..what crime have I done? do you really think that small amount of blur on the waves isn't correlated to advanced editing?
what is the difference between layer mask /dodging/burning and blur??

frostraiting...

That DQ sucks! I think if you had just applied a Gaussian Blur it would have been fine.

This was my highest scoring image, so I'm pleased you won the blue. However, reading your description I fear you may have fallen foul of

You may not: use ANY editing technique to create new image area, objects or features (such as lens flare or motion) that didn’t already exist in your original capture(s).

I guess we will know soon enough seeing. Fingers crossed!

How'd you get such a soft look to the water with a shutter speed of 1/125? I wouldn't expect that degree of blurring at that speed.

ETA: Just spotted your comment about having added motion blur to the water. I share Lawry's hope that your image is validated. It would be a shame to see this disappear from the front page.

I really enjoy the nice soft tones. Great coloring and exposure. The jacket just looks like it a little too big :) no marks lost.
