Oh, no! I was just taking another look at this photo and didn't realize it had been DQ'd. I've read the forum thread since. Tough luck and chin up! You've still got a great photo for your portfolio / Christmas card.

Having received my own dq recently, it's deflating and somewhat demotivating...but hang in there Sharon. This image is a beauty. Great choice of lens and angle and a well deserved high rating. Sorry about the DQ

DQ or not, this is one of my all time favorite photos submitted to DPC. Great job!

DOnt stop entering , this is a truely emotive image and perfect for the current time of year - looks like a still from a movie - one of those sickly sweet movies, the kind that are best at Christmas. Perfect.

Just so y'all know, I have the original RAW file, but when I sent it to them for validation, I sent the converted unedited JPG and not the RAW file. I never check the email that I signed up to DPC with, so when they informed me that I needed to submit the out of the camera CR2 file, I never saw the email and as a result didn't rectify the situation. Very sad about this. It's been about a year since I had entered anything, so it never occurred to me that submitting the jpg was wrong.

Thank you all for all the lovely comments. I truly appreciate it.

What, you didn't save the original for this fine photo? It's a crying shame. I thought this photo deserved the blue ribbon. My condolences on your DQ.

It makes it so much better that you can't see Santa's face, adds a certain mystery to him. awesome

A bit unusual crop. Has Santa really lost his head this year? IMO, a closer crop would have removed almost all the distractions left and right and focused attention on the kid - who is adorable, with great colors and expression.

I think this should have had a shallower DOF to help isolate the subjects..

Nah, just kidding, this is actually wonderful, you managed to NAIL the DOF on this one, and it really just makes the shot - I hope whoever this kid's parents are got a shot of this, as it's just great!
