I recently left Sydney for good to relocate back to Scotland after living in Sydney for 6 years. As our flight was on a Monday morning, we had to leave our rented apartment on the Friday, so we decided to spend the weekend in the Shangri-La hotel by the harbour.
I was taking a couple of final shots from our room window the night before we flew out and by pure chance these fireworks started, I think it had something to do with a concert happening on the other side of the water.
I had been shooting with my wide angle lens and when they started I knew I wanted to get a much closer shot, so I ran to the safe, grabbed out my 24-70, switched lenses, and ran back to the window (all without turning the light on), in time to get a few more in of the finale! It worked out well I feel.
The title refers to our leaving Sydney for good.
