Very last minute thought and entry. Bought some carpenters chalk from the hardware store. Spread it out on my dining room table. Pressed a leaf in the center to make an impression and set a couple of leaves besides it. The leaves are starting to turn for Autumn in Kansas City, so there are plenty of leaf colors to choose from.

Unbelievable! My first HM and certainly my highest score, by far. It sure was a fun week. Thanks so much for the kind votes and comments. They are much appreciated.

Post, post challenge:
Ok, "Yellow Autumn". Even more unbelievable. I had already proudly put my 7.0 without a ribbon on my profile page, when the DQ announcement came. I'm proud of my first ribbon, but didn't exactly want it this way. Enzo's former 1st place entry was impressive.

I've been in your shoes by moving up and winning because of a dq - it's a bit of a feeling like getting inheritance money because someone died. Bittersweet. It's a wonderful image!!!

A super creative job. I think you shouldn't worry about the DQ boost. Those not very clear cut things happen and folks should bend with the wind and move on.

This is really quite lovely. What a great idea! I like the little bits of red (or brick) breaking through. Although I find the red in the upper left corner a bit distracting. Doesn't make a bit of different in my vote, however. Just thinking out loud. -8- (voted earlier -- commenting now)
