I really have no idea if this is high key. I went out this morning to get the paper and noticed this guy trucking across the parking pad. So I got the camera, knelt on the ground with my head on the pavement, ever-expanding butt sticking up, and proceeded to wait for him to come back out of his shell. My plopping a big black thing in front of him apparently unnerved him a bit. Given the challenge details, I "carefully controlled my lighting and exposure" by shooting in the fog. No flash, no reflectors, nothing behind to hide the background (dead grass) - just fog.

But at least I took a picture this month! I'd been on a no-folder streak for quite awhile. Be forewarned - another angle of this guy could be my free study!

Also note the blazing fast shutter speed needed to capture this fellow. :-)

Top 20 - not bad, and if you could have got his eyes sharp as well it may have jumped even higher - and it's not easy for snails to jump anywhere . .

:- )

p.s. great title.

You are on a roll, eh? 6+ all the way these days. No longer the curse of the DPL. Nice minimalism.

Nice macro work! Yeah. Shallow DOF, a good subject, a bit of a diagonal, I like it!
