awsome shot! I shot one similar to this. Water seems to have a tendency to form human figurines! check out mine:

tom, i'm sorry that I'm the only person who knew what a naiad was : (

Thanks all.

I am aware that it looks like a person, hence the title ‘Naiad’ which is a mythical water sprite. I spent most of my spare time during the week trying to capture birds and insects in flight. I finally gave up when it went dark on Sunday night and did this as a bit of a last minute job, so I am quite pleased it did as well as it has done.

Looks like a silver grammy. Nice pinkish tint in the bottom.

Very good stop action of an old subject. Might be better in a Patriotism category, or am I the only one that sees the Statue of liberty.

This splash almost looks like the shape of a person!
04/19/2002 09:27:00 AM
This almost looks like an ice sculpture.

Not sure if anyone else has pointed this out, but that water looks like a person with his arm up, shooting out of the bowl. I think you really could have used the reflection and transparency of the water in combination with a more exciting background to make this shot better.

Lighting a problem.

a little dim, otherwise the colors would've come out nicer.

I would have cropped off the reflection of the flash in the glass, it's a little distracting

Great stop motion. It looks like an ice statue.
04/18/2002 10:04:00 AM
Great stop action, the color accents are nice. I can see the water sprite clearly.

Move the glass about 14 feet from the wall and you'd have something. It's a cool catch, but that flash shadow really hinders it.

how'd you do this?
04/17/2002 06:40:00 PM
Great shot. Am I the only one to see a 'jump shot' in this? I like the shadow, wish it was a little lighter though.

A little too dark. Would have been better without the shadow in the backgroud. Try pulling the oject away from the background.

i see her, i see the naiad! very cool concept : ) only thing is i would do a lot more levels tweaking.

I like the form of the splash. It almost looks like a person with their hands reaching out - perhaps drowning. I think the picture could be enhanced with a different colored background. Perhaps red?

Perfect focus and timing, plus the purple reflections help keep the photo from feeling too monotone

Very curious what the title means...could it mean "person rising from water"? Nice shot.
04/16/2002 05:39:00 PM
A bit dark, and way too obvious that your only light source was your flash. Almost looks like it some blob figure giving the socialist salute.
04/16/2002 05:01:00 PM
interesting how the water forms a figure would be vastly improved by adjusting levels to get better contrast

i see her waving at me!! very cool shot.

image well stopped

Pretty nice effects--as if its an ice sculpture
04/16/2002 06:05:00 AM
I tried and tried to get one like this. Like the color in the water and the shadow adds to the interest.

Looks like an ice sculpture -- what fortuitous timing!
04/15/2002 08:23:00 PM
Simple, but I love the pinkish tint and the humanly shape it forms. Pretty neat.

love how it seems like the water is jumping out of the glass
04/15/2002 04:15:00 PM
Good photo.

water.. go figure

I like this photograph!! This is a very nice example of stopped motion. All compositional elements are fine with me. I'm trying to decide what the blue background is doing to help the photo. Im not sure that its giving me the contrast that I would like to see but, none-the-less, this is nice work :)

Water, Water Everywhere !
04/15/2002 10:45:00 AM
Looks like the statue of liberty rising from the water!
04/15/2002 09:30:00 AM
That's pretty cool, the drop looks like a person
04/15/2002 03:34:00 AM
a more contrasting background would have suited this picture more.
