A couple of drops of honey on the sidewalk along an ant trail, and less than 5 minutes, you're in business.

Rotated, cropped, and barely resized. This is almost a 100% crop. It was 809 pixels wide, after the crop.

If this does better than a 5.0, it will show there is some life in the old Sony F717 yet.

So far the 5.0 is a little elusive. Perhaps going this tight and small, was just too much to ask of an 8 year old camera. Or perhaps my processing just let it down.

I like the reflections on the honey (I think that's honey) and the composition is quite good. It does feel a little overprocessed to me, though. A lot of the texture is being lost in the highlights, and the grain detracts. For this to really work, I think, it would need to be razor sharp.

Could be much sharper. Good feeling of chaos though.

Not a bad image. What is it they're eating?
I think the whites are a bit blinding. I think it'd've been really interesting to see this shot with only their food (?) on the right from the top looking straight down. I'd say that'd've been an interesting angle.

I would have liked more of the ants to be in focus. Nice idea for the challenge though

A valiant attempt but, the harsh lighting, coupled with the lack of focus will prove detrimental to your score. On the good side, it is a very chaotic scene. You had enough chaos with the ants on the right hand side of the image that you truly did not need those on the left... they only serve to distract.

Good luck with the challenge.

can you imagine how frantic these insects are as they are eating? Good picture!

If this were more in focus, I would have really liked this.

Good idea but the harsh light and focus let it down somewhat.

Tad overexposed, but a solid idea here.
