Since the flame is enclosed in glass, I can't see how this is a "candle in the wind". Also I'm wondering how you got the flame to be the same color as the candle.

Hmmm. I think I like this more after seeng it a few times. Seems a tad out of focus, but otherwise nice. Good colors.

The shot would could have been stronger, if the candle was shot more off center, or maybe as a macro shot.

Nope. Keep shooting

wellllll,

The lighting makes this an interesting photo.

Doesn't imply enough motion.
04/19/2002 01:08:00 PM
Nice, sharp picture.

The title allowed me to interpret motion into this picture, though I cannot infer that from just the picture.

I like the black background. A clean candle would have made a nicer contrast, I think.
04/18/2002 01:33:00 PM
There is something confusing about this picture it almost looks like you blue toned the whole thing.
04/18/2002 01:02:00 PM
the cool greenish cast to this conflicts with the warm flame, sepia might have been a better choice.
04/18/2002 09:05:00 AM
Subtle. Soot on the candle detracts, and the composition isn't the most interesting, but nice.
04/18/2002 07:30:00 AM
This is not really what I would call a stop action shot.

I am being drawn to the top, flameless portion of your candle - good pic of flame though.

color would be better

pretty candle. nice white balance. hard to really get the impression of motion from this one.
04/17/2002 04:47:00 PM
Nice composition - I'm curious as to how you got the flame as solid white, yet the wax turquoise.

A blue flame? What kind of candle has a blue flame? Hue alterations are not allowed by challenge rules.

that's stop action allright.
04/15/2002 04:06:00 PM
original interesting subject but maybe a little small and insignificant
04/15/2002 02:01:00 PM
i have the same candle :)

I saw this same phenomenon in the popcorn photo in this challenge. Your candle flame is absorbing the blue light from the rest of the image. I'm not sure that a candle flame is the best choice of subjects for a 'stopped motion' challenge. The composition of this photograph is nice. I'm not impressed with its association with 'stopped motion'.

A fresher candle might have been less dirty and given an overall cleaner picture ? Framing is a bit too loose, could do with being closer.
04/15/2002 09:35:00 AM
Good idea. This would be beautiful if you cropped the image in a tight vertical off center to the right. The emphasis would then visually be placed on the candle and the flame.

I love the color and and the contrast of the black and blue.

lovely use of colour.
