Like the lighting and colors!

White balance needs adjusting, and the object is blurred

Kind of dark and out of focus.
04/20/2002 12:27:00 PM
oops..... trails
04/20/2002 09:03:00 AM
Capturing the breaking of the egg would've been more dramatic.

Not bad for poor lighting conditions. Nearly stopped subject with distracting foreground.

I think I would have come in closer on his hands and left his head out. Onion is blurred.

Interesting entry. I like the way the lighting is emphasized on the cook.

This could have been a great picture. I like the face on the right looking on in amazement. The chef working like nothing. But the subject is blurred and not really stopped.

Need more light on the subject.

i love teppanyaki. is that an onion in the air?

Good subject, makes me want to go to a Japanese Steakhouse near where I live. :-) A little dark, and though the motion is obviously a focal point, it is blurry, and detracts from the overall effectiveness.

Looks like an interesting subject matter, but I cant' quite catch what the action is!
04/18/2002 07:49:00 AM
i like this image. dont get food on your camera. : )
04/18/2002 06:30:00 AM
busy photo. good 'stopped motion' though!
04/18/2002 02:04:00 AM
don't mind the darkness, but I do mind the motion trails and the exit sign

pic is a bit too dark. You might want to crop and centre on the chef, as the background isn't really that interesting anyway. Shame the egg got blurred too.

Is this Gasho of Japan in Hauppauge New York?
04/16/2002 05:11:00 PM
some motion trails
04/16/2002 04:42:00 PM

I still see a little motion blur. ;-)
04/16/2002 04:17:00 PM
Great idea but not stopped cleanly.
04/16/2002 01:36:00 PM
interesting shot - object not quite stopped
04/16/2002 12:02:00 AM
Not bad, considering the low light ... I like the choice of not using a flash .. .they are overrated!
04/15/2002 10:16:00 PM
Must have been hard to do in such a low-light setting.
04/15/2002 06:00:00 PM
The lighting is really bad. I would like it if I could see it. Sorry
04/15/2002 02:26:00 PM
i like the lighting on the chef
04/15/2002 01:35:00 PM
A *little* too dark but the light is on the main subject which is great:) Nice idea and capture:)

I wanted to try this shot myself. Poverty keeps me out of the Japanese Steak Houses most of the time :) I do see motion blur in the (is that an egg or an onion?) and in the spatula. It is very difficult to shoot 'stoped motion' shots in dark conditions without a flash. Your camera senses the darkness and lengthens the exposure time accordingly.

nice lighting, a vertical crop and a little more exposure would improve greatly

Too dark. Looks like the lighting did not allow for perfect "stopped motion" of the ball.

Good subject and cool lighting, but the round object is a little blurry.
04/15/2002 09:08:00 AM
I wish the lighting on his face was a little better. Overall a great picture though.
04/15/2002 08:51:00 AM
this is a good idea, but unfortunately, the egg has motion lines and the lighting is not great

nice concept but i can't see the utensils which seem to be blurry, the object being tossed about definitely is...i wonder if using flash would have helped

cool environmental portrait of this guy working. Bit blurred though - some flash might have helped stop everything more effectively.
