Critique Club Comment ~ Mike (MyQyl) Clark
Composition : The slant of the horizon distracted some, but it worked for me. This is suppose to be a chaotic scene and the tilt adds to it. The diagonal lines formed the flare of the lights also adds to the composition and chaotic feel. Even though it's just a catch out of your jeep, it's a well caught catch :) I have to wonder if you could have cropped tighter and lost some of the sky though. What do you think?
Exposure/Lighting : Excellent use of light! Again it adds to the general feel of chaos.
Focus : Not a major aspect of this shot, nor should it be. The cars and tow-truck are all well defined and clear.
Emotion/Challenge : This is an excellent example of photojournalism. It tells the whole story.
Opinion : Great shot that I thought was going to do much better than it did. |

Newsworthy photo... I rather like the blurred lights, although I think your score may suffer because of it. I think it lends to the chaos and overall feeling of the photo. Nice work. |

needs to be straightened little, but the verticle lines of the building and the lights on the pavement really work well together, and contrasted with the diagonals of the stop lights. nice shot. |

Boy, it's a paradox, I know. The lights are too bright and the shadows are too dim. What's a poor photog to do? An upside down gradient filter on the lens might have helped, or just trying to show more taillights and less headlights. A star filter would have made it "prettier" but might have trashed your effect. Honestly it doesn't look like a really planned out shot, just a moment captured, which is very important for PJ. I'm taking PJ for granted this week and voting primarily on quality. 5 nards656 |

this is a great photojournalism shot... the blown out lights and the rain really create a nice 'action' effect in this photo... EXCELLENT work :) - setzler |

The light all leaning one way make it look like a real bad storm. I like that. Looks like the wind is really blowing. I usually don't like night traffic shots but this is good. Would make me want to read how much damage was done. Great execution. PTL7 |

I wish I could take a night shot like this. How did you protect the camera? A bag? Or shot from the car? |

I like the length of exposure giving the lights the flare that you see... I wonder why they are at the angle they are at? camera angle I guess? ~anachronite |

i like the reflections. and i like the idea, but for some reason the photo is not very interesting. i guess there is not one thing that the eye goes to, no point of interest. |

This is good, tells a story. and meets the challenge. The colors add a bit of interest. The composition works just fine too. I really like the way the lights glare like stars. Best of luck in the challenge. Please remember to keep an open mind when voting. Grayce aka Gracious |

Composition ~ The horizon seems a bit slanted, but in this case it works for me... If I were to nitpick (and I usually do) I'd say there might be a tad bit more sky then you really needed. Exposure ~ Wonderfully done! The diagonal flare of the lights add a lot!!! Focus ~ While everything is not in crystal clear focus, it's as it should be. Challenge/Impact ~ You nailed it... |

I hope your camera didn't get wet! Nice shot, especially the colors on the right. Did you try to tone down the headlights a bit? DPz |
