Thanks for all the comments. Her hands are resting comfortably on a very narrow backed chair. It's hard to tell because her hands cover the entire chair. Not knowing the chair is there, I agree the hands appear very awkward.

One of the few shots to use the technique of centering the subjects eyes in the frame! Nearly flawless lighting. Wonderfully subtle soft focus. Only thing I think detracts slightly is the pose. I keep expecting to see her gnawing on her finger nails. Nice shot overall though!

Lighting: The lighting is excellent
Pose: I like the pose, but the nail-biter curl of the fingers does not seem to fit with the rest of the image. I am assuming the shallow DOF was intentional on her shoulders, but I found the back of her hair being OOF to be a bit distracting.
Background: Well done, with wonderful seperation.

Wondefully playful image. Great lighting, the glasses slightly slid down the nose adds a hint of playfulness. I like it, the over all shot is great, her hands look a little awkward,( the way she has them positioned does not look natural.) Other than that this is a great shot. Good tones and wonderful background selection. 7

Lighting and skin tones are excellent. I think DOF is slightily too narrow and I don't particularly like her pose...too confrontative and seems to be showing off her rings.

This is great. I gave it a nine, because everything is well executed (lighting, makeup, focus on eyes, etc.) It would have been a 10 if she wasn't looking straight at the camera.

One last thing: those glasses are a great touch, and drive home your title, and the hairdo perfectly sopports it.

Seems to be cropped almost too tightly. Nice shot though. 6

I would lighten up the face little more,9

Nice photo, Hopper, but I liked the lighting soooo much better on your last Portrait challenge entry. This is fairly flat by comparison. Composition and focus are good- just a little more contrast on that light would help immensely.

This does have that "sophisticated" look about it, due in part, no doubt, to the lovely lighting. I think the hand could be better posed--perhaps the head could rest more on them or the fingers could open a bit more. The shadow they cast on the chin also hurts the feel of the composition a bit.

Nice head shot, but the position of the hands looks unnatural and gives a stronger "staged" feeling to the image than it should have and gives an overall feeling of awkwardness. However, I do like that themodel is looking over her glasses and that we don't see any reflections. I little more work could have removed the darkness under the eyes.

The lighting, focus, and color in this portrait are all fine, but I don't particularly care for the pose and the dead-on center composition. Her hands are in a bit of an awkward pose, and they are casting a shadow across her chin. You are on the right track, however. Good effort. :o) PS...had to add that I just figured out she is holding something...a book perhaps? It would look less awkward if it were more visible IMHO. :o)

Excellent photo lighting. Beautiful model.
I'm not crazy about the pose and the glasses.
Still....good job.

Good picture. I can't see if she's holding onto a book or if her hands are just positioned that way. Maybe move the hands apart a bit so we can see what's underneath

Wonderful, I love it. Great lighting, excellent model, and title sums it up perfectly.

Good job handling the glasses, lighting, DOF.

Very good photo, but a little busy. My eye is bouncing between the eyes, glasses, lips, rings, hair... Not sure how to simplify, maybe no rings? Anyway the lighting is excellent and the overall effect is almost there. 7

This has a nice soft feel to it. (Not soft focus but gentleness.) Black background is perfect for her hairs and clothing.

You know that gesture that people sometimes make when they are pissed off? That is what the position of her hands reminds me off and that distracted my focus from the photo. Otherwise, I like the photo and the lighting is very nice.

The glasses make for a nice prop that adds a lot. The hands seem artificially placed, not very natural. Otherwise I like the shot a lot. Great expression.

very sophisticated looking maybe more if her hair was brushed, one of the better ones imo

Good contrast. There's some shadow on the bottom of her face though.

Hands bother me, they leave a shadow on her chin. lighting and color great 7

Beatiful eyes! Looking over the glasses like that is a great touch! It brings focus straight to the eyes! Great portrait, but the hands are troubling me.
IMO, I would like to see them more fist like - the current hand pose seems very unnatural. For this particular crop I would also like to see more arm, maybe just past the wrist! 7

A beautifull face, but it looks a bit out of proportion.
The glasses look mutch wider then her eyes are apart and that destracts me...
If you would have used a different focal Lenght and created some more distance between the camera and the model then this would have been better.

(i'm just making this all up to sound inteligent :-b )

Excellent use of DoF, lovely crisp rendering of features
, good soft lighting - not quite sure about the pose, the hands don't look comfortable - but an excellent portrait.

Lighting excellent - maybe just a tiny bit flat on the hands, but excellent for the face. your crop, especially on the hands, is odd, as is the posing of them - why cut half of them out? 6

Nice lighting and focus. The eyes and skin tones are very nice. The hair could use some work, and I don't like the placement of the hands. The same pose without the hands and glasses and with the hair tamed just a touch would probably look great.

I'm not sure if you were trying to show off the rings, but it makes the pose look awkward. I would have tried to do something else with them.

great photo. I like the positioning of the glasses. The shadow on her chin is a bit distracting, but not so much as to kill your score...

Great subject, good lighting, but the hand positions don't look natural. It looks as if she is showing off her rings. If that is the intent, that is great, but if not, the hands cast a shadow on to her chin.

Only two little things I dislike about this, her shoulders-showing the little bits and the knuckles. The hands don't seem naturally posed, it's like she is showing her rings..why? Lovely girl, great face, eyes. I love her smile and your lighting is very good.

the shot, expression, light is effective, i dont like the hand and the ring.... too much attention is bring there..... without the hand, all the attention will be lead in the beautifull eye and the great smile... a good one anyway... maybe I see a little green cast ! ..a8

Nice sharp and well lighted photo. The pose looks kinda awkward though, her hands seem to just be there like she's showing off the rings. I think it would have looked more natural if she was resting her chin on her fists.

This is a great photograph. I love the lighting and the soft warm hues on her skin. But, I would prefer her shoulders to be in focus, and to show more of her instead of just her head.
